I'm about to go reverb crazy

Post by D Rock »

It is time to invest in some new gear, and since my guitar rig is pretty legit for the time being I am going to get a reverb or two for my synths and maybe a korg volca fm as well.

Anyways, any sick reverbs you guys recommend? I want a space but they are a little too pricey for me, something with some real springs would be cool too. Also the immerse? Those look sweet as well.

I love stuff that features a swell switch so my vote goes for the Cadavernous V2. I also saw one modded to have an fx loop over the verb which is pretty bad ass.

I will check those two out. I am thinking about picking up another istomp as well for a cheap lexicon verb.

I just ordered the Iron Ether Nimbus Special Edition, it seems like a good option:
- can do near infinite reverb
- has 2 eq controls, can do full range reverb and be tweaked to not have that much rumble or high end (handy for synths I guess)
- has an additional footswitch to do cool stuff with an expression pedal or you can use it to switch to an additional preset

My favourite reverbs so far are the EQD Ghost Echo (has a bit of a springy quality but a character that is completely it's own) and the Dr Sci Bitquest (one of the most beautiful ambient reverbs I heard till now).
For the rest I'm not much of a reverb guy really, I tried out quite a few the last couple of years but most of them I didn't buy or if I bought them I sold them again.
good deals with: the_brow, phantasmagorovich, alexsga, DarkAxel, goroth, The Wood Wizard, Tendollarcat, vbps, monkeydancer, intothegroove, Brobee

Went through a bunch recently and ended up back where I started - an Alesis Quadraverb. For decent spring emulation, I liked the MXR M300 and the Empress. But I never really put much thought into those types since I play into a Vibroverb.

Haven't messed with it either, but has anyone tried the Neunaber 'Immerse' Reverbberator yet? You don't often see THAT many modes and features in a high quality stereo reverb pedal that small :idk:

There's also the Dr Scienitst RRR ofcourse. But if it's for synth use and it doesn't have to be an actual pedal, ya might as well save a couple bucks and go with the quadraverb or even nanoverb :idk:

If I had the scratch and were looking for THE compact reverb pedal right now...I'd be all over the Nimbus SE

Want cheap? Get a RV-3. No one mentioned the RV-3 yet. For shame.

The digitetch digiverb is the best for the cheapest verb I can find. It even has reverse mode

vidret wrote:oh wow. nimbus SE does look good, good idea with the exp being a a function tap as well, other pedals that don't utilize a second tap switch but DO have exp out should do the same (looking at you, particle!)
Yeah the tap thing is a fantastic idea, more of this plz everyone.

I'm going to be boring and recommend the same thing I always do: Dr Scientist RRR!

A bunch of different reverb types, nothing too exciting or wild but it sounds amazing. I think it's the best option for sound quality if you don't want many bells and whistles.

The Logidy Epsi ($199) is likely my current favorite. It's a convolution reverb (IR files), which you can read up on. It's expandable, so you can download or edit your own custom sounds and add them to the device with minimal time committed.

If I was your pedal godmother, and you were wanting to buy two reverbs for synths, then I'd probably start you off with the T2 and the MS-70cdr. For about $100 a piece, there's a lot of sounds to be had there. With the Zoom you can stack reverbs with delays for some huge, ambient walls of sound. The Zoom has presets based on the Eventide Space, Strymon blueSky, vintage springs, plates, and other modelers like the particle verb found in the Line 6 M5.

The Supernatural is quite versatile as well. For $125 new, these are a solid value. There's a lot of YouTube clips of the MS-70 with the Volca series.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgfRuSBtt3U (MS-70 + Prophet 08)

Logidy demonstrations...around 30mins Nick starts to talk about the pedal and demonstrate stuff like the water setting.

Oooooh, care to go into more details about the Epsi? Seems unnecessary for me (only six seconds is a little limiting) but it could be cool for people who make sounds live.
