NAD (For Bass!)

Post by theshoegazer »

So happy right now.

Its a 1999 Pre-Fender SWR 350 Chrome Face head into a heavily modified Gallien-Krueger 1x15 cab. I've been using borrowed equipment for the last few weeks to play bass in my buddies band and now I finally have my own stuff. Sounds really awesome. Deep, woody tone especially into the 1x15 cabinet. Eventually I will upgrade to a 4ohm speaker but for now it sounds awesome. Now I need some pedals.....

Thanks! The cab has a new solid wood baffle (replaced the particle board one). The cabinet to my surprise is actually plywood. The grill was sanded down and repainted (had a goofy logo). And finally an Eminence Legend 1x15 8ohm 300 watt speaker to replace the stock (that actually wasn't half bad). Sounds pretty nice and cost me $115 total instead of shelling the cash out for a new one.

Here's a before pic. It was my buddies old rig. The shitty Backline head was totally destroyed by using an instrument cable instead of a speaker to hook it up. I'm trying to sell it for parts. Haha.

nice changes!

i dig the idea of taking old gear and upgrading to improve performance. sometimes you can buy nice gear which will never need upgrades, yet there is satisfaction in taking something which would not meet a certain performance quality and personally modding it to reach that standard. :joy:
