Re: Seppuku FX
Ugly, the Vox AC 30 is your main amp correct? Ever use the built in spring reverb on that? I went looking for an "analogue reverb" and just thought "oh right I can just use the amp no need for yet another pedal" I have an AC 15 which would be my main amp but it is too goddamn loud.

Re: Seppuku FX
It's my home amp (I use a JC-160 normally because of all the effects I use), but I'm selling it because I never take the volume past 1. Getting an AC4 or something. The reverb is okay, but it's pretty weak. Doesn't get that wet or big.

New picture on Rhys' site:

It seems that he still labels some of his new pedals "Seppuku" (look at the mod-chop). Is that the beginning of the end of "audioslime" (a name that I never liked)?

This I like

Pedals going out to Fuzz Monster in Denmark! The owner Steven is a fair dinkum aussie and he’s got some radical gear in his shop. http://fuzzmonster.dk/

Re: Seppuku FX
Hi there. New to the forum so it feels a bit akward crashing the 120 page-long Seppuku thread... But I just received my Memory Loss!... I found out about Seppuku a few months ago (thanks to great youtube demos from u guys) and couldn't resist when a new batch came up. Now I know this thing is subtle and crazy, but I cant get a hang of the settings. I'm sure some of you can help me out. (by the way it would help me test it and make sure it's in working order...) It's a five knob version (data, clock, signal, gain, feedback), and I asked for a soft touch switch with kassette function (as I saw some items like that were made a couple of years ago, and Rhys was able to do that)... Pretty cool uh? But I need your input:
-This thing seems sooooo loud. I need to keep the signal knob to 9 oclock, otherwise it might destroy anything within a 3-mile radius...
-I can only get a dry signal when the clock knob is full clockwise, or sometimes when the data knob is at zero. Otherwise I have no dry signal, and the repeats are way louder than expected...
-I have a hard time setting the pedal to work in only one way (only a delay, or only a fuzz, etc...), eventhough I've seen a good deal of demos where this is happening -some of you here have even made knob-per-knob vids- but still, once you're dealing in the flesh with the memory loss, it's another story...
So I guess the parameters are highly interactive, and there must be something about the buffer/delay threshold I havent grasped yet, so any insight is welcome. Thanks!

Re: Seppuku FX
You'll probably get better advice from brandsmannen or uc, but here's my thoughts:
Dry signal thing is normal. Think of it as a full wet delay. There is some bleed though.
It is loud and will always feedback loud.
Reduce your guitar volume (or use a volume pedal or something that limits amplitude like a looper with volume, a hard tremolo, or a sampling glitch pedal with volume on the repeat) and dial in the glitch/whatever it's called and make sure to sustain the note and you should get triggered repeat feedback. Lower delay times and higher feedback usually works well. Usually you can hear the mode switch from wet delay to triggered delay around 3/4 and up on the glitch knob. Ride that volume knob on your guitar and play softly to bring out the glitchy.
I think glitch would be either gain or data on yours (it varies a bit).
There are some that you can overgain to a point where they don't sample the whole repeat and get a kind of octave, but that isn't as common.
If it has a boost switch/button usually one setting is lower gain and easier to work with. Sometimes the boost or gain knob can get in the way of glitches so I usually keep that low unless going for preamp noise.
I think of it almost like an auto wah/env filter and run it first in the chain.
Welcome!

Re: Seppuku FX
These are all good pointers by LG. I'll add that a compressor will make triggering the glitches easier, as you'll get less dynamics (attack peaks). An oscillator or a droned note through a looper would also enable you to find that sweet spot between no glitch and nothing but glitch. Keep in mind that you have a one-off with two severely pushed PT2399 chips. Unless they are completely separated circuit-wise and you're able to turn them on/off individually, you will have a completely different beast on your hands. A tasty beast, I can imagine.

Re: Seppuku FX
Just out of rehearsal so I couldnt post earlier... Thanks a lot guys, appreciate it!
So basically, I could use it as a... Count to 5 for instance? Meaning: it works better if you first set a mood (with a looper or something) and then work the sound from there? The only other way to use the Memory Loss differently is to find a fuzz sound and stick to it? (that way it can be used as a regular (so to speak) fuzz? (I looove the fuzz on it)
And the volume acts like a threshold to trigger some things or not, ok...
(I dont have a red button but a gain knob. I'll post u guys a pix)
Alright, I'll do some experiment tomorrow anyway, I'll tell you how it goes... Thanks again

Re: Seppuku FX
Honestly a pic would be useful because there are so many little variations between each Memory Loss version. I don't know if you said if yours is horizontal or what not but yea it gets confusing because I think all of them act slightly different.

I wish I had some fuck you money to buy a shitload of Rhy's pedals. I'm lucky if I win my dollar back from the weekly lottery.

The new hand painted pedals are labelled "SEPPUKU" again. And also the site is "seppukufx.com" again. Bye, bye, audioslime!
