The Selah Quartz Timer V2 is finally out
For those interested, the updated Quartz Timer just went up for sale:
http://www.selaheffects.com/product/quartz-timer-v2/
For those who don't want to click the link, I should say that it's a relatively sophisticated tap tempo pedal that seems awesome. It has four output jacks (plus MIDI), each of which can be individually calibrated to work with whatever type of tap your pedal needs (NC, NO, etc.). You can also dial in particular tempos, input tempo from a metronome, and save setlists if you don't want to deal with tapping tempo directly.

It still looks like a shower curtain.
Just kidding. Seems cool, but iirc the v1 didn't send clock start/stop messages and the new one doesn't seem to either. Not in the market anymore but this is why I didn't own a v1.

Still no tap division per output.

That's not entirely true, actually! Under the "Preset Menu" heading in the manual:Inconuucl wrote:Still no tap division per output.
I'm not sure if you can save different divisions for each output when not using a preset, but I'll report back after mine arrives. Presumably you can, at the very least, set a preset and then override the tempo with tapping?Division: Each number represents each Auxiliary Output on the side of the pedal. Once in here, turn the Preset Knob to select the output, then turn the Tempo Knob to change the division. Hold down the Tempo Knob to save and exit. Each output can have a different Tap Division.

Making this the best alternative I've seen yet. Being able to change it on the fly would be best. I'm starting to think going diy will be in my future. Or copilot/any of the builders here.

I may have said this before, but I'm waiting on a mega custom thinger from Copilot. 8 channels, with individually controllable divisions, and the ability to sequence divisions.Inconuucl wrote:Making this the best alternative I've seen yet. I think.
It's been a while since we talked about it and I've forgotten the exact list of functions I wanted.

It does seem like there's a distinct lack of footswitches on the Quartz. You can set the footswitch to do a lot of different things, but what if you want to be able to do them all at once?
The biggest problem, obviously though, is that it's impossible to read in sunlight. If only there were a moderately-priced solution to this heretofore unsolvable conundrum...

I'll have to try the quartz or see demos though, but it's a great step in the right direction.

That sounds lovely & useful!
When can we expect a detailed thread with pics and such?

Re: The Selah Quartz Timer V2 is finally out
I just got my pedal in, and I think you'll actually be pleased with the way it works. There's no such thing as "not using presets", though if you don't need presets you can set a setlist with only a single preset on it. For each preset you set 1/4, 1/8, dotted 1/8, or triplets individually for each output, but you can override any of those choices on the fly by pressing the "preset/edit" knob and scrolling down to "division". I have the footswitch set to function as tap tempo, and have it set to scroll to the next preset when held for 1 second (these seem like the obvious choices). With the footswitch set as a tap, you can override the tempo on a preset but keep its other settings. I have no complaints at all with this thing so far! It's powerful and very, very intuitive to use.Inconuucl wrote:Making this the best alternative I've seen yet. Being able to change it on the fly would be best.
