This is what really bothers me about fancy pedals that are tied to external technology. Five years from now the Nemesis pedal (in its current incarnation) might be a paperweight because Neuro won't be updated to run on the latest OS. You'll have to keep your current phone and not get rid of it ever just to lug it around for the Neuro app.rfurtkamp wrote:Too expensive, port it over, done.
The joke is that says they won't be updating the app in the event of OS changes either realistically on the cell phones.
If that's the reason....guess I'll cross 'em totally off the list.

Yea, it's why I look for ability to edit the pedal via even a clunky interface on it or at bare minimum a computer app versus a phone.
Compatibility mode etc on desktop/laptops exists for a reason.

i mean, you have access to a whole bunch just on the face of the pedal - i see the neuro more as an optional bonus

This is basically why I usually try to avoid most of these 'inovative' digital effects. I'm no vintage snob or anything, but I NEVER thought to myself "gee, if I could somehow control this big muff with my phone I'd surely make better tunes"goosekevin wrote:MannequinRaces wrote:This is what really bothers me about fancy pedals that are tied to external technology. Overly digitalised shit is always bound to become absolete at one point or the other, or at leats greatly decrease in value. I'm picky, constantly plagued by a severe case of GAS, and my taste/style changes more often than I change my underwear. Plus, I'm not rich. Which means my stuff should always be easy flip-able. I would hate to spend a small fortune on something like a Nemesis, and end up with a paper weight when after a couple years the pedal's not compatible anymore with the next generation of phones/macbooks or when there's a V2 out that ruins the reasle value...
To each their own ofcourse, ymmv and all that...

Anyway, I have it on good authority that they will NOT be release a v2 in the even near future. So there are no worries on that front.
Also the Nemesis is hardly a small fortune. I mean, I guess it is to some, but it's extremely reasonably priced for what it does. The biggest thing is that it's less than the Timeline and stomps it's dick into the fucking dirt in spades. The Timeline sucks balls and the Nemesis is amazing.
I think if you sat down and really though about this sucker, you'd see it as more than a potential paper weight. You could say the same about anything, analog or digital really. So that's very subjective and you are of course entitled to that belief, but I do think in order to have a good handle on this sucker, you owe yourself to at least trying it out. What's nice now is you could flip it easily. The last one I bought I got for like 250 and was able to trade it for a decent pedal still or I could have sold it for the exact same price or more.
I regret selling mine, twice. LOL! My main issue with it was the fucking overpowering my signal thing, but apparently I'm just a dumb ass and it's easily fixable, which means I need to sell something to buy another one.

Oh no, I deny myself present enjoyment because I might not be able to enjoy it in the far future, despite the fact that none of us keep pedals that long.

If there's no budget for a non-phone app, says there's no real budget for upgrades.Eivind August wrote:Pretty sure they could create a new app when the next generation of fancyphones comes around?
And while some of the stuff is accessible, a lot isn't without it.
And for the One series stuff, you get a FRACTION of what the pedals do without the app.
At least the Boss DD-500 has menu-diving.
For the Source products to be competitive, IMO, they're going to have to be somewhat future proof or a LOT cheaper.

True I guess. The time I need to find out if I like a pedal or don't, is usually shorter than how long it takes for the pedal to become obsoleteInconuucl wrote:Oh no, I deny myself present enjoyment because I might not be able to enjoy it in the far future, despite the fact that none of us keep pedals that long.
I've actually been looking at a lot of Nemesis demos, reading a lot of reviews. Slowly starting to give in...And there's a B-stock one at the store where I usually buy my new stuff. And I've got a little birthday money burning a hole in my pocket...
