I've lately been digging Matt Pike's thick fuzzy guitar tone on "Jerusalem/Dopesmoker," and I was wondering if you guys could just throw out some fuzz pedals that could get me that sort of tone. I'm talking heavy fuzz, fair amount of bass, and something that sounds huge for some heavy doom/stoner stuff.

Owning all of those pedals, nothing is going to get you that close. It's just a cranked to shit Matamp with low tuning, so anything that's bassy and tune down to C and you should be as set as you're going to get without the rig.

I've gotten SUPER close to my ear running a Rat (whiteface), into the crunch channel on my Peavey Triumph PAG 60 (BASS and MIDS all the way up, and Treble to taste). Seriously. SUPER thick and sustainy. Maybe not that crunch/ buzz of Sleep (they have less gain than I had), but NAILED Boris "Heavy Friends." All with a Duo Sonic.
So the tone isn't unobtainable w/o a Matamp. You just have to work at it.
Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'm going to go for a Megalith, gotta start saving up for it. The Supercollider seems pretty badass too, but the guy never emailed me back as far as availability, and the Megalith seems to have an endless array of fuzz tones/overdrive sounds.
