Anyone fug with a Boss MO-2?

Post by friendship »

I keep coming back to listening to this pedal online, it seems cool to me. It sounds like it can do some unusual chorus, rotary speaker, octave, swirly stuff. If you've used it, tell me about it. I feel like I made this thread before but can't remember.

^^^my ideal high

Anyway, the MO2 is I think one of the most severely underrated pedals around. I've yet to hear a good demo of it, however. I remember the initial demo being godawful and aggressively not caring about it until I saw a friend unleash a sound best described as Godzilla breaking out of an icy tomb and rolling down a mountain. Some of it was the rest of their setup, but most of it was the MO2. It's got a character unlike anything else I've played. Also pretty sure it's discontinued now unfortunately.
I play guitar and modular synthesizer in Juggable Offense.

It's an amazing effect - the first run of the MDP pedals was all built into the GT-100 (with better control and options than the standalone pedals).

It and the Adaptive Distortion are absolutely stunning.

A little MO-2 + AD-2 gone wrong in the big ugly black box (didn't go into the menudive to get to the really, really mean stuff the MO-2 doesn't do outside of the multi-fx realm):

Nothing else fancy into your basic Fender clean monsters.

I've been very intrigued by this. I guess I should try and get to GC to try one out sometime. But fuck that place.

When I first heard the MO-2 it made me think of this Zeni Geva song and the effect Tabata uses at around 2:45. Always wondered what that was, and I'm confident he was using the multifx processor of which rfurtkamp speaks!

That could also be the new feedbacker in it, or partially. Can get a lot of that with just the octave feedbacker holding notes and setting the attack.

I have a newer one. Does anyone want it? It's cool and weird but I don't really use it. It's like a weird icey alien chorus. Stere out is nice. Can actually make almost steel drum esque sounds on the right settings if you roll off your tone knob a bit. Maybe I will poast demo.

It's the first modern device that approximates the old "detune" feature on the Quadraverb etc as well.

I tried one briefly and found it pretty fun. Was only going for wacky sounds because it was a noisy environment and I only had a few minutes but it did some good wacky sounds.

I really want to to try this pedal now.
