Dude, everyone that plays shredder riffs has been influenced by Metallica because when they were actually a band they kicked ass.
LoG are great musicians, their fans are just garden variety metalheads.
As a side note, Burn the Priest (instrumental LoG is fucking amazeballs and should have been the way the band was run forever.

I was literally about to say that -- that first/Burn The Priest record was definitely pretty good.

Re: LOLDEAFHAVEN
Yeah it was great.
Total riff/shred/tech fest.
I don't mind Randy too much as a vocalist (he's not my favourite human being) but I just sort of feel like when they took on a vocalist it was more of a "let's be a 'real band'" move, as opposed to "let's just fuck with everyone and break the metal mold a bit.
Which they could have gotten away with and it would have been interstellar.
Mark Morton is a fucking legend.

Re: LOLDEAFHAVEN
Was referring to Deafheaven citing their main influences as "Morbid Angel, Kill Em All era Metallica, Oasis and Red House Painters".
Either way, whatever floats your boat.

Wait I really-read that.
That's not so bad, but Oasis is something of a wildcard there.

Don't get the Oasis one at all there to be honest, or Red House Painters for that matter. I guess riling people up with very mildly ostentatious/bizarre comments is a good way to secure your Ray Bans/Starbucks/P4k lifestyle.

Re: LOLDEAFHAVEN
I dunno, it's a diff'rent strokes situation. If I were pushing it on you using the argument I did, that would be stupid. I don't expect anyone to like a Deafheaven song because I picture whales when I listen to it. But it is absolutely valid as an argument for why I personally like the song. Of course it's bubble-ish! That's how I relate to music. Ultimately you could have the most critically-vetted, uni-musicology-dept-approved essay about why a song is objectively bad or good, and it might convince someone, if they happen to agree with it, or it makes them think about that music from a different angle... but ultimately, it's not going to convince a hater that they're wrong. It's not going to convince a fanboy that they're wrong. All meaningful interaction with music happens on the individual level for me.Contrived personal responses render everything you said exclusive to you and no one else. How can a bad song invoke those feelings? Ever heard of Jandek? Bad/good is the centre of the whole "wah wah subjective" argument and saying that Dream House is an objectively good song because it made you feel something seems a bit bubble-world-ish. It's great that music makes you feel things but it has pretty much no relevance to anything else.

Like... if music doesn't make you feel things, what is the point of music? Literally nothing. Music that doesn't evoke emotion is muzak.

Re: LOLDEAFHAVEN
Checked out some of the other moronic videos by the Hipster Black Metal channel. This is alt-right garbage. The worst possible type of shitbirds who drop words like "cucks" and make fun of a woman musician by speculating about an eating disorder. Literally hope they die in a fire.
Deafheaven don't sound too much different than any other black metal to me, which imo isn't that great, but it is a trend that has obviously caught on for some reason and seemingly won't die. Anthrax and Metallica all the way!
They're touring with Carcass next. They're also "cucks" presumably.

This is a very impressive collection of Roto Toms. That's 21 Roto Toms in all. That is only $33.00 a Roto Tom.

Yeah, I wouldn't encourage them to quit whatever jobs they might have to pursue comedy full time, and having now heard of Liturgy I'm not sure what distinguishes them from Darkthrone or whatever except the Liturgy dude is obviously a suburban hipster pipsqueak.
