I haven't owned one in about a year or so but it's pretty easy to hit the switch you're meaning to hit without hitting anything else.*

It is terrible. But...oh well. I like that it is small. I don't have a better solution, and I would be less happy if it were in a larger enclosure (1590BB), for example. All things considered, it's the best possible setup. 125B with rear-mounted jacks and power is the best possible configuration if you ask me. Look up elevenstrings' monstrosity for further evidence.

(I only own two of the pedals in that photo now--FFF and Ct5.)

(And yes. I recently moved up in shoe size from 14s to 15s, so really anything short of Moogerfoogers is too small for it to matter anyway.)

I detest 125b size or anything smaller. I will use them, but I've gotten so used to having larger boxes that I now hate small ones.

Whichever side, there needs to be enough space to use pancake plugs without them obstructing each other or the power jack. This is a problem with a lot of stereo pedals and even for some mono. (Ibanez Soundtank and Guyatone micro series come to mind.)

I used to not care about jack placement, but now that I only have space left for two pedals on my board I specifically want a rat clone with top jacks and a 12v compatible distortion with side.

Jack placement is mostly an issue in relation to the power jack for me. I don't like it when the power jack is right next to the input jack on the side of the pedal. This makes using pancake style cables a pain in the ass.

Seems like the real issue is you use pancake patch cables. :)

Pancakes "should" allow you to have the biggest pedals on the smallest board

I think top mounted jacks are fine, but I have zero fantasies of having a board where ever pedal is perfectly flush with every pedal next to it. That's just a nightmare with someone with big feet (or even wearing shoes at all, for that matter), and kinda just aesthetically too busy.

I'm not expecting for a perfect tidy board but, making something for mass production that doesn't work with all the different cable ends that people use is unintelligent.
As for feet.. yeah, I wear 13's.. my big problem is loopers.. damn things are always too close together for me feet..
