Actually, I'm reading an interview with Aaron North (I was unaware of him until just now), and he doesn't make it seem like it was a cool thing, but an act that, he retrospectively feels, was symptomatic of mental illness and a reaction to a dumb fucking crowd at a shitty gig. Still, fuck the HRC and the veneration of old guitars that may or may not have been played by some dead person.

The problem with Aaron is that he was just honestly doing alot of drugs and had alot of people enabling him.

We are both kind of guys that were who we were at a time when we could get away with that shit. He ran a website that called people faggots and stole peoples shit and seriously fucked with alot of peoples lives. Those people were fucking poseurs of course but when youre coming off almost a decade of sustained drug use and pretty much everyone you know fucking abandons you, you start trying to figure it out.

It happened to me and Aaron is still going through it. You look back at who you were and it definitely doesnt translate into 2016. The world passes you by while youre coming off the shit and you finally wake up one day and dont even know who the fuck you are anymore.

I will say this for Aaron

He put on some of the most intense and best shows ive ever seen. He was without a doubt one of the best guitarists in the world. When you see his skinny ass jumped over one row of amps because he has another behind it in stereo and hes phasing them the fuck out and youre trying to hold him and the amps up and your ears are shattering and you fucking dickfores in von dutch hats BOLTING for the door with their hands to the sides of their heads and you just look up and this sweaty little shithead is giving you the biggest grin ever because this is exactly what he wanted, you know you love that person deeply and without pretense.

I think hes probably deeply depressed and i know how bad it is to come off speedballing. But i can say without reservation when he busted that guitar out he 100 percent meant it.

Nah, the song called "Get off my back" from Scattered Smothered Covered, where the only words are "Get off my back". Chris was just stomping back and forth as his guitar just sort of dangled and hit the ground, monitor, mic stand etc, he'd punch it a few times, give it a shake, then bellow "GET OFF MYYYYYY BACK!!" right in someones face, cos there was no stage. I've been to a bunch of hardcore shows, but just never seen vitriol as genuine as that. He just scowled through the whole show. He occasionally appeared at the side of the stage during the opening bands, and he'd be scowling there, pressed-down eyebrows practically overlapping his line of sight. It looked like his eye-brow muscles had grown their own muscles.
