I like side mounted personally. Top mounted makes it harder for the bottom two rows of my pedal board. That being said, I can work with anything. As long as the power jack isn't super close to the jacks.

It'd be nice if there were standards across the industry. For example if your pedal is in a certain size enclosure the jacks have to be on the side, power on the rear, etc.. Little late in the game for that I suppose. Anyway I like rear mounted jacks that go into other rear mounted pedals but not rear mounted jacks that have to snake around to a pedal with the jack on the side. If pedal space on the board is a concern definitely rear mounted jacks.
I just don't get how there is an issue with space on a board ever. I mean, you can buy another board or use less pedals right? So anti ILF, I know. I have pedals of all shapes and sizes with top, side...what the fuck ever jacks and I've always managed to get a shit ton on one board if I want. I think people just suck at assembling their boards sometimes, but I also feel like you don't need 30 pedals on one board. My max is 24-25 maybe and that's for fun. You dudes that gig are crazy if you use that many on a single board. I don't even see how you could hit the switches without being confused. LOL .I'd be using three boards if I gigged. Or at least two.

Toptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptoptop mounted everything all the time. I've since even rehoused the FFF so it has top-mounted/rear-mounted everything.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.
thank you all for the feedback. obviously there are many things to take into consideration but i was just trying to get a generalized idea.
for instance if you have narrow pedals you pretty much have to go with side mounted jacks for 2 reasons: 1) space on rear 2)it helps get the stompswitches further apart.
i hope no one thought i was trying to stir a pot but i couldnt find a more recent poll on this question and trends change so i wanted to see what the opinions of this are these days.
i really like invisible man's pedal board... and i notice he put the count to five at the far right so that the left stomp is far enough away from the particle stomp to make things work. if you dont mind commenting further how do you feel about the spacing of the stomp switches on the count to five
