Anyone tried BugGFX?

Post by DRodriguez »

Just messed around with their one pedal so far, Daydream. Crazy multiband delay weirdness. Almost like an arppegiated delay, but not quite. Tried it out, and it was lovely.
The BuGGFX Daydream is a unique multi-band filtered delay. The signal is split into multiple parallel paths, individually delayed and filtered, then recombined with the original signal before making its way out of the pedal and into the world.

The result is a truly magical sparkling sonic atmosphere unlike any other pedal.

sounds a bit like a DL-4's 'sweep' mode. The one thing -aside from the looper- I REALLY miss since I got rid of my DL-4. Really musical sounding swooshing filter on the repeats, really usefull and psychedelic without going overboard. Been wnting to pick up an Echo Park for that sole purpose, if it werent for that dumb switch I'd done so a long time ago.

Imo there's way too many modulation delay pedals out there that all do the same old cheesy chorus/vibrato thing, without even sounding like an actual tape delay. I'm gas-free at the moment and broke, and this guy's not gonna change that...But as hard as it is to make a delay pedal that sounds somewhat different and unique....This one actually looks pretty damn rad :idk:

Yeah, kind of similar. The DL-4 is like someone modulating the delay with a wah pedal, this is creating 3 delayed signals from and shifting 2 of them forwards in time to create 3 repeats per loop, each harmonically unique. If you're after that sound, get a delay with an effects loop and put an filter sweep in there and that should do the trick nicely.

And I couldn't agree more about too many similar delays out there. El Capistan was the first delay in a while that legitimately made me hear tape in it.

I've been looking into that, cause I am indeed after that sound...
But I coulnd't figure out what to use for the filter sweep...:idk:

An echo park still seems to make more sense than using two seperate pedals for one specific job. It's likely to cost me more than twice as much, and take up precious board real estate as well...:s

Unless there's a delay pedal out there that could tempt me, something thats got more to offer than just the fx loop...:idk:

Ooh I will check it out. Couldn't agree more with Frigid's comment about the cheesy, basically strap-on-a-chorus-pedal modulation settings on delays. Lame.

I really like the oscillation and cuspy-thereabout sounds in the Daydream. Also ze aesthetic :joy:
Gotta cosign what's been said all around this page so far, too.

@frig If I were you I'd try a Solidgoldfx Electroman with Henretta Green Zapper in the loop. Higher $ and moderately more board real estate likely well worth it; you gain the versatility of having 2 independent fx ya can also stack in front of each other or apart with other pedals. (I'm not you...still want to take my own advice). Those 2 pedals will also be lighter & lower profile than an Echo Park. You could even mount the Henretta under many boards. OK I need take a min before giving myself ridic GAS for some of dem colorful lit'l boxes :snax:

Seems like a solid approach, but since neither of those pedals are easy to come by on the used marked, I'd be looking at spending $325 if I had to buy that combo new. If there's more options out there, pedals similar to the ones you mension, and I give myself a little time to search the used market...Maybe a better solution than the echo park isnt that impossible after all :idk:
