Is the Microkorg out of fashion for low budget synths?

Nah, I just got the Impression he wanted to twist knobs and really didn't care about keys. For the price (microkorg used price is kinda high to me), in that situation, might was well go for the ms2000 rack.

I've got an XL, but the standard Microkorgs I remember being a bit more knob-twiddle-friendly than the XL.

It's got different brains inside, the XL is like a baby radias or r3 and the regular MK has an older less powerful engine. (can you tell I'm not a digi synth expert?) XL has 8 voice poly vs 4 on the MK.

I just remember the standard MK being a lot more performance/tweak friendly thanks to having buttons for patches and more knobs that always did the same thing (MKXL knobs switch function when you switch patches)

Try looking for a Shruthi as well if you can get one at a good price (or just build one).

I don't get the impression that Faldoe is really looking to menu dive in the way that you have to if you want to use the Shruthi's sequencer, though.

Whoops. I thought it was cleared up. I'm not looking for a hardware sequencer. I'm looking for budget hardware synths to use with Ableton - using the latter as a sequencer.

Also, I may be picking up another Volca Keys tonight for a good price.

Roland JV-1080 synth modules are a steal now days. Grab one or two of those and load them up with sound cards. I have two of them and they're my main workhorses.

TX81z can be had petty cheap. A bassstation rack is one I always miss.
