Sounds like Metallica to me? Shorter than I expected.

Would drink beer and bang my head to it.

I thought it was a parody cover of metallica.

For real though. Load was the last album of theirs I could tolerate.

This.

I quite liked the drum tone in the new single, and the bass was pretty rad for a Metallica record.
The guitar tone was pretty rubbish, and the riffs were ok at best.
The vocals were typical post Black tour voice blowout Hetfield crap. I'm not sure what was worse - the lyrics and their awful half-rhymes, or the (insert adjective like "edgy", "furious", "aggressive" etc) rhythms.

All in all - I don't think I can look forward to a metal release less than this.

Potentially the new Korn record* could sink lower, but otherwise there is nothing on the horizon to shake the title of "most meh release 2016".

*I actually dug Korn's first two albums a lot, and have managed to find something half listenable in most of their records, but that new single is terrible - oddly enough in the same way the new Metallica is, in that it seems such a blatant attempt by a bunch of out of touch hacks to cache in on something that the band did well a long time ago

Korns first two albums the the ONLY Korn albums. I refuse to call that bullshit they came out with later Korn. Fucking sellout bitch motherfuckers.

Argh. It's tough, because Kill 'Em all through the black album meant so much to me (SHUT UP, I'M OLD AND FROM THE STICKS, OK!?!?!?!!), and much of it still does (AGAIN, I'M OLD, WHATEVER), so I get my hopes up every time I hear there's a new one coming out. But yeah, this completely bums me out. It was the lyrics that really killed it dead in this one for me, though I wasn't really loving the riff either.

Sigh.

I'm in the same boat, but I think they've lost me for a while now. Tried to hang on. This song isn't bad (though the lyrics, ugh), but the new album is apparently an 80 minute double album, so there's plenty of time for them to go way worse.

See I felt like you do Inco, but gave up years ago. LOL! It was around the same time they started doing the Mission Impossible soundtrack. Something about them doing a song for that movie pissed me off so fucking bad, I just lost it. I mean, I literally lost it. LOL. I hated that fucking movie with a passion and think it's the stupidest ass franchise movie ever and Metallica is a bunch of cunts for continuing on and changing their sounds. Much like many other bands we could name. MANY MANY MANY of them.

Music is dead to me. I'm going to go cry in a corner now. Fuck the world.
