Practicality of The LoFi Dreams Digdugdiy

For those of you with the Digdugdiy LoFi Dreams on your board how practical is this thing to use on the pedalboard? The pedal really intrigues me but for $325 + shipping I'm wondering if I'd be better off with a Montreal Assembly Count to Five. Any thoughts?

I had one for quite some time. Some of my thoughts:

1. Sounds killer
2. Super fun
3. Portable
4. Hisses a fair bit when not playing samples (it's always on), so it's smart to have it running into mixer or something similar so you can make the hiss go away when you're not using it.
5. While incredibly fun, using it live can prove to be difficult (depends on what music you make of course). Not that's it's not super responsive or anything, but since you are basically the sequencer (having to trigger each step manually), it's easy to screw up if you're busy twisting knobs and playing to a beat.
6. If you're making very experimental music or just want to have an immense amount of fun, I would highly recommed it.

Thank you all for the replies. I completely understand they're different pedals but as far as pedals that scratch my experimental itch I think they would both fit the bill. I more than likely will not be using either pedal live and will be more for studio use and just for fun.

Well if you want more of a 'pedal' I would suggest the Ct5, if you want more hands on manipulation I would maybe look at the Lo-Fi, but I would also take into account what UC said. The arcade buttons are very cool, though.

Maybe consider the Micro Granny 2 also. It's a fun little sampler and cheaper than the others mentioned.

You definitely don't want it on your pedalboard. It block all input when it's playing samples, so you can't play through it while it's doing its thing.

Good point. If he's just using it in the studio he can work around that. I know he can.

That's good to know. So for pedalboard use would I first create some loops playing guitar and recording those loops with a looper pedal and then sample those into the LoFi Dreams? Honestly I've been lost in the wilderness that is electronic music on the computer and am trying desperately to go back to my roots of playing guitar and writing 'songs.' I'll still be using the computer to record, sequence, and mix my jams but that's going to be about it.

That's how you would have to do it, which is why I don't recommend it for pedalboard use.
