With 2 DCOs per voice and 12 voices, you can have 4 detuned DCOs riding each other over 6 voices. That would sound MASSIVE. I'm waiting to see how nice it is to edit this thing. That interface makes me very suspicious.
Yeah, I am suspicious as well.

So nothing. It just seems frankly seems silly to complain about Behringer getting a 12 voice DCO synth in at the same price point as the Mopho x4 when there's literally nothing else on the market doing what the Behringer is doing at that price point yet. But probably this will mean that Arturia or Novation or someone will have to take notice. So maybe we'll see a 6 or 8 voice poly with no screen at a cheaper price.

Yeah I mean I'm all for this aspect of capitalism -- innovating into more affordable price points -- but I'm suspicious of Behringer because of what they are as a company (and I like their stuff, as I think I've said). Like, on paper this seems a little too good to be true, so I'll wait for the proper release before investigating it?

This is the definitive piece of gear I let develop a user base before serious consideration. No less than 3 months of real-world-use by early adopters & enthusiasts in particular.

I feel like that's just a good course with all gear? I mean look, Korg took nearly 2 years to add a freaking song mode to their new gen Electribes. Roland just finally added MIDI CCs to their Boutiques, which is just like, how do you not get that from the get-go? Waiting seems like a good course of action in general.

That interface makes me want to get a blofeld again. It lookslike there's gonna be a ton of menu diving on this, which isn't exactly what I'm looking for. This looks like it has a ton more features than the blofeld, though....

So, if it doesn't end up sucking once it gets to production, and they end up releasing a module version, then I'll pick up a module to play with. Assuming no one else releases something better by the time they end up rolling this out...

Bummer, that's exactly what I was a bit weary of, it seems to sound and function like a 90's digi wavetable synth.
Likely they threw in the extra voices and digital fx to make it at least look and sound like something.
Well, hopefully Arturia, Korg or Novation will come up with something decent in reaction to this.

Menus do look reasonable watching the video.

If the stuff couldn't be edited and assigned, people would bitch.

I'd also expect that the app editor will make it a ton simpler, but the menus do not look bad considering what is baked in.

More and more pleased the more I see with it.

The menus don't look bad, they just remove it as a competitor to something like the minilogue for me. I'm not a huge fan of menu diving. I wish someone would make a knob-per-function synth with presets and knobs that showed their settings like the Moog Phatty.

Thing for me is menu-diving isn't something that gets done a ton after initial setup - there's enough hands on it appears that I could take a dozen presets as a baseline for what I wanted for almost anything without touching menus.

If someone wanted to use the built-in effects it's a world of difference, but, well...those ain't going to set themselves *and* be useful *and* not be in a menu.

The ton more options makes it much more appealing to a Minilogue for me, I've resisted the urge to pull the trigger on one because of the limitations thereof.

Was looking instead at the various Roland and Dave Smith stuff...and...then this pops.

The menu diving really only seems to be necessary w/r/t the modulation matrix and the digital effects. Everything else has a knob or a slider or a switch and the screen is just there for visual representation. And frankly, having a hardware mod matrix would just add a ton to the price because of the silly amount of parts necessary. This is not a bad thing.

I will just get a Blofeld for the time being, but if the module comes in cheap, this could be in my cash-flush future.

OK I'm really liking the look, workflow, functionality. Price point.
The only thing that's lacking, unfortunately is the sound. I know it's a youtube video. I know it's a prototype model. But no patch from this clip grabs my attention the way Moog, Oberheim, ARP, Sequential etc analog synths... and even sounds from the JP8000 jump out of the speakers. Those widen my eyes without any effects or magical outboard middleman gear, pretty much regardless of playing chords, pads, arpeggiation etc. Even through youtube to my clinical monitors. This Behringer does it all but... I'll have to see (and hear) where it excels in person. I don't want to prematurely brand it lackluster but that's my initial takeaway :(
