Where does Tesseract fall on the djent scale? Or would they be prog?
Meshuggah is a total blind spot, for me, but so is djent at large.

They fall between periphery's progressive brocore and that new wave of prog metal with Protest The Hero and Karnivool.

... Except I really dislike Tesseract, and I still can't place why exactly. Probably the vocals and the production. :idk:

Yep. Tesseract would be way better without the vocals and production.

I quite enjoy Hacride.

Periphery - that Misha dude seems like a total dude, but I can't stand their music. It is so insanely over-produced.

All Meshuggah songs mentioned in this thread fucking rule. DEA is potentially my favourite, or Nothing, or Koloss. I dunno. They're all great. Get on the Demon is Surveillance train dudes. Sooooo brutal.

They're both on the 'guitar students who wear their instruments too high' scale.

Love misha in interviews and stuff but can't get down with the periphery. For me heavy music needs some flavor or influence from punk stuff and I can't hear that at all in their playing.

Crazy I'll admit to, but not about Periphery. I fucking HATE them. LOL.

If they played the same music and ditched their singer, I could get down. The singer ruins the entire band. Kind of like ill Nino. They have some awesome riffs and beats, then the singer destroys everything.
