I loved the books and Zammuto, if that counts as in the same realm. Granted the books have been doing it longer than Battles.

just checked out this band. they definitely have some very Battles-ish parts. they also do some old school Bitch Magnet/Slint type stuff too. I'm not big on the clean/tappy end of math rock, but they keep it interesting most of the time.
