Yeah, I play it on monitors at work pretty often.

Also, if more bands would approximate the talent and skill of John Stanier's work in Battles, I'd be totally cool with imitators. But that's always the weak link in the bands I think you're talking about, D.o.S. It's easy to be wanky and loop-y with strings and keys, and kinda impossible to do what Stanier does. I do a decent impression, and it took me probably five years in that style to get anywhere interesting...though I'm still not close to his level.

The same logic applies, I think, to the Mars Volta, who also inspired less-good bands. Nothing they do is that hard to copy except Jon Theodore. There's a common thread here.

^(i.e., I have been listening to isolated drum tracks from Deloused for ten years and still have no fucking clue what he is doing about 10% of the time.) :idk:

I'd be impressed if somebody could get their cymbal higher than Stainer's. :snax:

Challenge accepted. I have a massive wingspan...I think it is like 6'7". Oh wait...low ceilings in the dungeon.

That is, by the way, one of the more creative and cheap visual signatures I've seen from a band (and definitely from a drummer). They could have just dressed up like Mudvayne, y'know?

Yeah I saw TMV with the Hijinos, Juan, Ikey, Theodore lineup and they were real formidable. Definitely agree that they're another band who have spawned an army of bands who are ripping off Mahavishnu without realizing it though.
good deals are here.

So did I. That was a short window, too. Hella and TMV is support of SoaD. First two blew System off the stage...I am not exaggerating when I say that I didn't notice that the whole band (at which point Hella was what seems like a fucking twelve piece) except Zach Hill left the stage. Dude was...mesmerizing. And I'd seen him and Seim in smaller venues, but...damn. Then Theodore came on

Also gonna brag that I was into Mahavishnu before TMV existed. Because I was. Got some sweet Billy Cobham VHS stuff kicking around that a guy gave me for giving him a sweet deal on some cymbals.

Pssssh, fuck that, I don't own any vinyl.
