Tube PA head for guitar or bass

i had a really sweet looking 50's era 3-channel tube PA head (forget the make now) that i rewired to connect the inputs in series for more gain. it got pretty fuzzy and awesome sounding but was really quite dark and way more needed to be changed if i wanted to make it useable all of the time rather than just have that one particular sound. that being said, it was cool but i would go for something cheap if you go the random vintage route - think mine was like $60 or so.

fender pa 100 is cool too and i still use it all the time but it's a totally different animal.
