(I'm not LG; disclaimer)
A bear woke me up in Montana when it brushed up against me (through my tent, mind you). Then I heard it walking away and breaking into a cooler our asshole camp neighbors left out.
My wife was already awake and listening to it, she told me later.
That was some scary shit.

Re: Stump Lord Galvar
Nuts! Bears are goofy animals.
My grandpa used to go to Yosemite every year to camp with his old football buddies (it was a lets see if we can still hike this thing...not a Heath ledger movie) and would bring a cooler of grilling foods and snacks. They hung it from a tree and took all the precautions so the bears didn't get it. Every year, a bear got the ice chest down. But it only ate the plums every time.

I was at Lowe's with the wife before we started our kitchen remodel. They had this open box 18" or something dishwasher that had no price. Only dude I could find to get a price on it was over in seasonal. The guy carried the little dishwasher around the store looking for the appliance guy (it was a failed special order, so no price in the system).
The dishwasher was a whim kinda thing. The kitchen teardown was inevitable but we thought if this thing is like $200, we will tear off the doors of one of the shit cabinets and put off the kitchen remodel for a few years.
Dude carries it around and we tell him not to worry about it, no one is going to buy it, but he insists. We go wait for an hour with him by the point of sale while they track down the manager haha. Really have a good conversation about remodels and stuff. Manager shows up with a price: $700 with 5% off because it is open box. The wife and I were like, "Nope, we will just take this $3 cactus".
A few days later I went back to Lowe's for something random. I saw the dude from seasonal in his street clothes. He had this shirt with a Rob Halford dude on it and I thought to myself, "I think this dude is pretty cool, liking Judas Priest." We talk in Lowe's for like an hour about his house and my house and the funny things you find in the walls and stuff. Nothing exciting but totally engaging for new homeowners, haha ("ohhhhhh, what do you put on your grass!").
I finally ask him about his shirt,"What bands played the 'Sunset Street Fest'*? I don't know about that one." I totally was expecting Priest, WASP, Dokken and crap...but he said, "I don't think your wife would like it much. Its where the bears and the leathers take over the streets. You know, bears like me?" I felt like an idiot haha. Then I told him about when I hung around a leather fest in SF which just happened in Haight Ashbury as I was at Amoeba. I was still a little disappointed that Rob Halford wasn't there.
Turns out the guy was a stand up comedian (like everyone in la) and just got the job at Lowe's for discounts as he remodels his house. Someone gave him and his boyfriend that house by USC. Freaking amazing if you know LA housing costs. Really awesome dude.
*Too lazy to verify if that was the festival name

Haha, awesome. I hoped you might bend the definition of "bear" a little.
I like the part about the plums too. Maybe it was the same bear every time.

This thread is beautiful.
"They ran out of cheese on the airplane, so I flew home." is just such a hilarious line.

I have no idea. I got a 403 in that "how do you deal with labels" thread for some parenthetical that was like (if I was better at making money) or something. I think it's just random.
