So my best friend found this Epiphone strat copy in the back of his closet and handed it off to me.
Needs a bit of work. need to replace the super shitty tuners with decent ones, missing strap pins, ect.
The electronics dont currently work. To me it sounds like its grounding out somewhere. par of me just wants to rewire it with just one volume per pickup and ditch the switch altogether. The aother part of me wants to go full DIRGE and rip out the gaurd and put in a fresh torticeshell one with tripple P90's
That thing looks awesome! Subtly odd. It's like an exercise in omission.
I wish there were more things missing... like the 12th fret markers or something
But yeah, I love the absent middle pickup and tone knob. I dunno—I wouldn't fuck with it too much! Just get it working and see how it sounds before you mess around too much

On guitars I had with two pickups, a switch, and a master tone and volume, I would always rewire it for independent volumes, as I tend to keep tone maxed 99% of the time. Then you can go from mid volume neck to full bore bridge by flicking the switch, or killing the volume on one pup and the switch tremelo thing like Ace Frehley of Tom Morelof.

You could get a 4 way tele switch, and get the series/neck/parallel/bridge switching. I love this on my tele.

Careful with pickguard changes though, it will most likely be a PITA if it doesn't match up with standard fender measurements. I also like the pickup config, but you can change the pups for something interesting, maybe strat sized p90s or something. Personally I'd sand down the color and stain it to some pretty color. And I've always been interested in those on-board electronics
