Vintage Fuzz Clones @ Decent Prices?

Post by lank81 »

Hi All,
Looking at picking up some vintage fuzz clones here in the near future and was wondering if there were some nicely done clones @ a decent price? Stuff just seems outrageously priced anymore. Looking for stuff like Fuzz Face, Tone Bender, Maestro, Super Fuzz. I know there's Monsterpiece, MJM, and Stomp Under Foot. Any other good clone makers which don't sale for a small fortune? Thanks.

What do consider decent? I think analogman and skreddy offer excellent fuzzfaces at reasonable prices ($185/$195)
If we're talking sub $150...

EQD tone reaper (tonebender), oxfuzz (ff), malekko omicron fuzz (superfuzz) or if you want more of a DIY flavor the guys above are all highly recommended
There are some that call me...morningstaru?

I'd say Sub 200$ is decent. I still think that can be somewhat bloated. 150$ is more fitting but 175-200$ is good compared to some Maestro clones, etc. that I see going for 250-300$.

Creepy Fingers stuff usually has a list price of 250, and you can get them cheaper used. They're awesome.
Basic Audio is good too and not expensive.
Ian Sherwen in the UK is a good builder.
Good deals done with all these guys

We should have a "Clone Trades" thread in b/s/t. I mean, why not right? I've got a bunch of Stanimal's clones and I'd like to try some of our other builder's stuffs. :)*

Checked out the Basic Audio stuff. It looked good, sounded killer, and a price of 150$ isn't too steep for that fuzzy goodness.

Definitely added a few things to the future buy list :)

Phoenix Custom Electronics.... i did some research on these guys when i was looking for a "classic fuzz clone" as you put it....

but of course, i then went with our resident Fuzz builder Brian at smallsound/bigsound and his Team Awesome Fuzz Machine.... i'll be doing demo vids once it lands... and the TAFM is $10+ cheaper than anything else i found in that range AND is more dynamic in my opinion....
