I think we should hold a pee-in.
That's a good form of demonstration, right?

I don't know what that exactly is or why we're doing it, but I like any excuse for pee-pee talk.Chankgeez wrote:I think we should hold a pee-in.

You can be my dog. I'll be your tree and you can pee on me.

Yeah, I don't know what that is either.
We can make it up as we go along?

Which is what and how does it relate to U.S. politics? Uncontacted or lost people vote democrat either way or uncontacted rednecks don't like Trump?snipelfritz wrote:Trump basically had to beg people to be his shadowy puppet master. Lol.
@doomin I'm not convinced that distaste for the enemy is enough to win an election. Trump's Pence pick shows he's still struggling to consolidate bases of the party. I'm betting against the lost tribes of the Amazon theory.

I'm in the Johnny Ramone type of camp. Although Bush fucking sucked. Rock and Roll is the sound of rebellion I thought. If you're a democrat, you're not rebelling against shit. You're getting encouraged and reinforced everywhere you look - facebook, google, twitter, yahoo, the big 3 television networks, cable news, NYT, WashPo, college campuses, your favorite celebrity Jennifer Lawrence is a lib, your favorite scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson is a lib, your favorite musician from Jersey, Bruce Springsteen is a lib and the list goes on and on and on. Hillary's been chosen by our overlords and it's as if this country doesn't even have sovereignty anymore.
I got mugged by reality a few times or I'd still be a hippie socialist. At least we can all get some excitement or outrage out of Trump instead of everything being so damn LGBTboring and BoringLivesMatter and whatever else sheep are eating on these days.

It's the idea that there are enough white nativist voters that he can just keep playing that card and get as many out of them as possible.doominchains wrote:Which is what and how does it relate to U.S. politics? It' ignores the reality that the modern (well, pre-Trump) Republican party was actually constructed out of various factions including evangelicals, blue collar conservatives and well-educated "conservatives." Trump is failing to consistently consolidate support among these groups even in the numbers Romney did in 2012.
When it comes to results, voters are just numbers and groups of numbers, and Trump is not even on the horizon of the numbers he needs to compete in a general election.
None of this is arguing that Hillary is all that great. Just speaking with my "amateur political strategist" hat on.

I kind of like the idea that Hilary, who is obviously privy to specific interests, is somehow more emblematic of an oligarch than Trump... who is, you know, an actual oligarch.doominchains wrote:Hillary's been chosen by our overlords and it's as if this country doesn't even have sovereignty anymore.
And I prefer Johnny Thunders.

Just for clarification, as someone who views uS class warfare from an outsider perspective, snip, can you please clarify what you mean by "educated 'conservative'"?
Honest question, as I think we have a similar demographic down here but I'd like to know what it is in your context.

Yes, this is what I meant. People who may actually identify with Mitt Romney. Those who believe in trickle down economics, not because they're stupid, but because they know it works...for them. (The quotation marks were referencing the fact that I think conservativism is by definition xenophobic and the Trumplings are truly more conservative than those who claim the term...but that's another discussion entirely)D.o.S. wrote:Think William F. "Conservatism (or conservativism) is any political philosophy that favours tradition (in the sense of various religious, cultural, or nationally-defined beliefs and customs) in the face of external forces for change, and is critical of proposals for radical social change."
I can see how people would think conservatism means opposition to different cultures or fear of them and their possible influence but from what I've heard and understand from Conservatives that I don't think are idiots, I there is a difference between being concerned about people from different cultures that clash with ( or oppose) our Constitutional rights and those that just don't want "foreigners" in their country.
The former is a reasonable concern.
