I think my One Ring (Mod) to rule them all would be basically a Frequency Analyzer (love its bell sounds & the Fine & Mix controls) with the following:

- post gain to compensate for perceived volume drop
- multiple waveforms
- some way to finagle a preset or presets
- tremolo speeds
- the posibility that the Filter switch could become a potentiometer instead

I tried to get into Randy's Revenge but its basic sounds just didn't have the same oomph as the FA to my ears. Great pedal tho, no doubt.
Great deals with lordgalvar, filipre, seten, DannDubblewe, PumpkinPieces, backwardsvoyager, DADGBD, jwar, JonnyAngle, dandolin, pd~, Dungus, dminner

Srry if alrdy covered, but what do we think about frequency shifters. Seems relevantish to me, but not sure if I fully grok'em....

I've been waiting to have a listen to this which they teased at un-summer NAMM:

because I think the only other option that I'd be interested in is analog & a synth module. :snax:

We covered it a bit. Chankgeez found some good articles but I don't remember if they were posted here or elsewhere. Frequency Mod is like ring mod with one side phase-canceled out. Supposedly the Ring Thing does it, but I've only used mine once haha. Stupid.

Seems like it could be a blast but pretty spendy to get into it analog wise.

Yeah, the Analogue Systems model which I will continue wanting is over $2K. :snax:

Dude that's a rad video, you've pretty much convinced me I need one.
How much extra was the momentary?
And also could you do some low tuned, fuzzed out long notes with that oscillation going on in a demo please?

From Zee Facebooks:
I am in the midst of developing the RMA Polybius, which is essentially a nested modulation circuit (kind of a ring modulation core interleaved in a maze of refractory support and interactive detritus [hungry swamp monsters])
good deals are here.

You chopped out the part where I was asking people for money!

I almost posted a crudely drawn block diagram here, but it's still a little early for that sort of tease, and I'd rather post audio anyway.

Thanks for noticing! :animal:

Hurry up and post some godamn audio.
Since you dropped into my Planetary sounds threads I've been in here daily trying to work out how to jump in the deep end.
Ring mod is very unfamiliar to me but I am keen to learn its weirding ways.
I've been looking around and checking demos and there's not a great deal that's floating my boat, so I'd be keen to hear what polybius can do.

Plus I missed that Doper preorder and will forever feel like a dildo for doing so.

The on board oscillator section is having its way with my sanity. That absolutely has to be sorted before I cut a demo, it is the heart of the beast. I refuse to give up and stick some bog standard 555 based circuit into it. Soon!

I will say:
Top mount jacks for the primary three holes (in, out, and carrier), rear mount jacks (five) for other shit. Will function with just an input and an output.
I'm trying to keep knob count nice and clean, so I'll be burning up some DIP switches for user configuration.

Regarding cheap Dopers, best method is to buy one while buying something else - that runs into discount territory fast.

This fuzz module is allegedly able to achieve '"ringmodesque" textural oscillations' :idk: :

Well I'm going to have a Zvex Super Ringtone coming soon.

Am I in for a treat here?

Chankgeez: that fuzz sounds nice. Really fattening and really gives that old saturation people in synths like (and I do too).

Jwar: I have an old old ringtone. It's fun. With midi on that one you should be able to unlock some great doors. Even if you don't like it as a ring mod, you can use it as a noise maker/random thing to put in loops of other pedals. My old one has some balance issues (either carrier or dry signal bleed through and take center stage in the Signal) and there are a few gem sweet spots where it seems to sound the best on the little pots. I find it nice just to cycle through preset modulations (I don't remember how many steps there are). It has a descent range, right around frequency analyzer range but bent toward the DBA space ring spectrum (,not super high, but gets slightly into trem). Don't know how the super is different.

Made another ring mod over the weekend (wait, it's Friday...I mean on Wednesday). Didn't work at all...I will try to find the Ge diode part number so people can avoid those (had like 20, and 4 were bad in the batch but found a matched set).

Built a carrier osc for the heck of it when I couldn't sleep... temperamental beast haha. Kinda got it in balance with passive, but, eh, yea. More tests.
