Casters or no casters

Post by xrleroyx »

Just got a vintage Orange OR Lead 4x12. It's my second one, mainly because they barely/don't fit in my car.

It's got the wooden "feet", and all the doomy fuzzy goodness involved in those cabs. Problem is, I live on the 14th floor in an apartment building. I've been thinking about tossing some casters on there so it'll be easy getting in and out of the building, and therefore I won't have to get rid of it. It sounds SO good.

Casters or no casters?

Yes to casters, when you want to use it just set it on its side to get the bass carry.

Ernie Ball makes a set of pop out casters that are pretty sweet. If you could mount the cups staggered to the wood feet, then you could pop them in for moving, and pop them out so the cab feet make contact.

Casters.
This is a very impressive collection of Roto Toms. That's 21 Roto Toms in all. That is only $33.00 a Roto Tom.

Casters or a cart of some type
my plush cab 2x15 had a cart that it sat perfectly in that I used to roll it around, it was great.

Rather than add casters, you may just want to invest in one of these types of movers dollies. I know it's just another thing to cart around, but theyre pretty cheap and will at least help you get the amp from place to place.

Casters, movers dolly or collapsible hand truck...the latter of which is a big back saver. After you tote the cab you can put your head, pedalboard & guitar on it, brace it all by wrapping a bungee and wheel it in with ease. Only takes 2 trips to transport...presumably all your stuff...and get set up without leaving easily-carried-away things unattended

As someone else mentioned, furniture dolly is the way to go. The casters on those dollies are bigger than ones you would end up with on your amp and are therefore pretty easy to roll.

I like the hand truck suggestion now that I think about it, especially since it sounds like you have to go up a ton of stairs to get the amp into your building.

Well guys, instead of making my life easier I'm trading it for an Emperor 2x15.
