I dig it. After my folks split I'd find myself with a lot of alone time when no friends could play.
Frequently used to leave my NES on in the background while playing with Legos circa early 90s.
Get home from school & go right to The Moon, letting the timer count down all 3 lives & then repeat.
It's almost silly to think how those midi/chip tunes were so...instrumental in shaping my musical sensibilities.
What those devs & composers did with 3ch/lofi voices (in mono) is downright magical.
David Byrne
Nick Cave
Annie Clark
Warren Ellis
Juliana Hatfield
Geddy Lee
Neil Young
Some of them probably come through in my music more, and obviously there's like a thousand others, but these are some of the people who most make me want to create new stuff and try to be interesting.

Some of these artists had more of a hand in shaping my taste/aspirations as a teenager (generally the 'metal' and 'rock' whatever bands) more than they do now. But I also tend to find when it comes to the actual music and not the people or the ideas, very few musicians or bands really captivate me for more than 1 albums worth of material:
Tool
King Crimson
Meshuggah (Nothing/I/Catch 33)
Nine Inch Nails
Battles EP C/B EP / Mirrored)
This Heat
The Mars Volta (De-Loused)
