Yeah--I didn't think so, but some of the Japanese sellers of these units seem awfully squirrelly about selling to folks outside Japan b/c of power differences--must matter more for the 200v+ peoples....lordgalvar wrote:Nah, it's close enough. I've never had a problem on the ac powered ones. The DC wall warts I've gotten from Japan are another story...those never work. These were exported to the USA too and I don't imagine anything was changed inside. But I don't know haha.

Looper in Timefactor/H9 will let you record while you hold the (external) switch down and will play it when you let the switch off, you can do stutter and granular looping very easily by doing that, but to me is after the capture when the fun starts.Faldoe wrote: What is out there - besides the Freeze and Super Ego - where you can capture audio, but also manipulate it?

Except for the part around :50 and the part near the end where it goes super high in pitch, all of this can be done with the Looper on the H9. Put a MASF Possessed after it with the Taste and Touch knobs dimed and with the Smell knob around 9:00 and you are there.echorec wrote:I wish there was a pedal version of the Phonogene.![]()

I really...really...like the looks of the TimeFactor looper, especially for knob-twiddling mangle-duty, but then I think about getting an H9 instead because MAXXX, and then I think I'm gonna have to whip out the iPad and then it's down the rabbit hole.ramonovski wrote:Looper in Timefactor/H9 will let you record while you hold the (external) switch down and will play it when you let the switch off, you can do stutter and granular looping very easily by doing that, but to me is after the capture when the fun starts.Faldoe wrote: What is out there - besides the Freeze and Super Ego - where you can capture audio, but also manipulate it?

It does make me wonder--does anyone here gig with an iPad as a guitar fx processor, using Loopy or summat for freeze and capture type shenanigans?
Also, dat Ibanez RGKP6 jawn gives access to some glitchy freeze fx on the kaoss pad you can fondle while you thumb-strum...it is some actual fun timez, even though myself rocking the RG look is a misdemeanor in 49 states and all outlying territories.
And I keep hoping someone smarter than me whips up a freeze patch for the Hoxton Owl open-source pedal thingie.

Raptio has a pretty sweet hold function. The main knob, while holding a sample, can be tweaked to control this soft psychedelic FM flanger. When I found about that it was game over.

^^See, that's why I'm waiting on the Raptio 2--cv in so I can automate that shit and kick all my flange to the curb.

The out-of-phase effect on the Raptio is very subtle. Personally, I think it sounds lovely, but if you are really into flanger it's probably not what you're looking for.

Yeah, I've owned a few TF's and the Looper is great. I was thinking of mentioning the TF in my OP but the TF loops more than freezes. Though it has a lot of what I want - especially with the slicing start/stop times thing.ramonovski wrote:Looper in Timefactor/H9 will let you record while you hold the (external) switch down and will play it when you let the switch off, you can do stutter and granular looping very easily by doing that, but to me is after the capture when the fun starts.Faldoe wrote: What is out there - besides the Freeze and Super Ego - where you can capture audio, but also manipulate it?

I'm trying to find a bunch of stuff I can use in separate channels in a mixer. I may get another Freeze and then some random not too pricey delays with hold functions.

Re: All things audio "Freeze and Capture" thread
The venerable Digitech RDS rack delays rock for this.
The sample+hold is independent of the LFO and changing the delay time/length of the sample is non-destructive - so you can go around mutilating the hell out of it, and going back to where it was.
There's a reason I still have two in my rack after all these years.

More modular -
Delays: Demora, Rainmaker, Chronoblob, Echophon, basically any delay with a hold or freeze function
Samplers and such: GrandPa, Nebulae, g0, Tyme Sefari, Scooper, Reflex LiveLoop, etc.

Which RDS model should I look for?rfurtkamp wrote:The venerable Digitech RDS rack delays rock for this.

I didn't know the CT5 could freeze. I didn't know mtl.asm also had something new coming. Looking forward to it.

Re: All things audio "Freeze and Capture" thread
Just remembered:
SPX90/SPX90II hava a couple sample and hold mode - one of which has adjustable loop points and trigger, and one of which can be transposed by incoming midi.
The ZOOM G3/x has a hold delay which is pretty sweet for stutters if you tweak the gate and length.

That's the one thing I really miss from my old Timefactor. The freeze function was super cool. Wish Strymon would add it to the Timeline.
