With the current state of my bank account, it's probably a GOOD thing that the chances of finding a good deal for a used Buzzz in Europe are close to none

That's what I figured. Very different pedigrees it seems, not much similiarities in terms of components/circuit...

I'm surprised it only went for $560. That seems kinda low considering it was for CCC.
Also, the lower octave switch is the kind of shit I need in my life.

How well does this big bitch cut through a loud live mix? I'd love a Buzzzzzz but my experiences with fuzz so far have involved me rocking the shit out then stomping on a fuzz only for my guitar to totally disappear and then feeling sad. If this isn't the case I'll be buying one tomorrow.

low end is very impressive, had a tougher time getting mids and treble to cut through personally but there are a lot of settings on the thing.

Re: Ssbs buzzzzzzzz
As for live cut, I've been using it with my band quite a bit. It is much better than most Big Muffs I have used, it claims to have flat mids and I think that is pretty accurate.
It doesn't boost mids though and has a big bottom end. Cutting the treble back a bit, using silicon and rolling the starve knob until it cuts some bass definitely makes it possible to get a somewhat mid rangey sound.
The octave setting cuts fine on its own usually but I do use an EQ (Tone Job) to boost the mids on it sometimes when using the regular fuzz mode. I play a Jazzmaster (scooped-ish mids) into Fender/Supro (kinda scooped mids) so I am boosting mids often anyways. It's not going to plow through a mix on its own but it certainly won't disappear either.
That being said I love it so fucking much guys. The versatility and hugeness is insane. It can be nasty and snarly or smooth and psychy or synthy or video gamey or just massive. The octave is just brutal and discordant yet musical and can be so present and cool sounding. Just pair it with an EQ/Mid Boost or even a stackable midrangey OD thing for when you want to bump to the front of the mix!

I think you're gonna want a fOXX Tone Machine clone, then.ThatBliss wrote:How well does this big bitch cut through a loud live mix? That, or a mid boost placed after the fuzz.
I haven't played with my band since I got the Buzzz in yet, so I'm not sure how it sounds in that context.

I wish I had a full featured para EQ in a small pedal for situations like this. Something alike the Empress EQ in a 1590B box.

Honestly one of my favourite pedals I've ever had the honor to carry through http://www.eaststompboutique.com
Brian is the shit. Which is why we did the limited graphics run together (or he did that for me, of course)
still have a last limited Buzzz in stock, too
*shameless promo*

Re: Ssbs buzzzzzzzz
the above buzzz looks great.
i lucked out infinitely. got bri bri as my secret satan last year. he hooked it up with a buzz.
i'm not sure what my exact settings are but i have a few band uses that i love it for.
octave on, of course. during sludge riffs it is nice to add some more low end. but. we have this weirdo noise part that's clean with a ton of effects. but i slap this bad dad on and let it run through the whole chain that usually features cadavernous reverb > dispatch master with verb/delay > rainbow machine w/ magic engaged. it's so weird.
also sounds great with bitquest but what doesn't?

I've moved my Alpha Dog down in the gain stages, and it seems to do a good job of boosting the Buzzz and getting it to cut through more. The Mini is more transparent in its boosting- more of the same really.

Re: Ssbs buzzzzzzzz
Wow, lotta people down with the buzz. I do the same as a lot of people. I have an sd1 in front of it so when I want it up front more I just slam it with that. Makes it cut right on thru as well as tightens it up for a little more note definition. I also have a mini after it which together just sound massive and angry as fuck
