LongFallBoots demos-Little Bear G3 super cheap valve drive

Pretty cool "going cheap, might as well bid" eBay find. The fuzz is actually kinda gated and has a cool texture, the tone control is sensible at both extremes and there's enough level to push your amp. It's not insanely high-gain, but the compression characteristics make me feel like it might be good for slide(!?).

I love weird plastic fuzzes. Always worth a bid ;)

It doesn't help that over the course of its lifetime that it has lost 2 of the 3 knobs it has. But I guess that adds to its "charm"?... It's got "character"?.. "A nice personality"?..

Same here. Some of them do some pretty wacky stuff, like the stereo chorus/flange that I snagged from a fellow ILFer a few years back.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Got this super cheap. Sweet and dynamic and that low-end is CHUNKY. Well worth the price of admission.

...now I need to pick up a tri-metal...

Think I might do a "cheap plastic" stack...

Great demo! That Zoom series was really so great (& the prices have been getting higher recently), but this one is probably the most versatile of the bunch.

The UltraFuzz is a big favourite of mine and actually the first fuzz pedal a bought (back when they were new!). There's a detailed demo of that on the channel too (it's an older video so scroll down).

I've got a couple of comparison videos coming up hopefully - of some similar types of pedals as well as some stacks.

If there are any pedals on the channel you want to see face off, just holla at me!

The most epic battle ever.

THE BATTLE OF THE CHEAP PLASTIC HM-2 CLONES!

Surprised at how different they sounded (spoilers), which one is everyone's favourite?

(and yes, we turn them both on at once)

(oh and we also just posted an HM300 demo too in case you can only take one pedal at a time...)

The Arion wins it hands down in my opinion :) Thanks for posting this.

If you're interested: The opinion on the favourite was conflicted for me and the drummer.

He was all about the Arion - and I get why, it's hard to argue with the low eq on that pedal, and the less compressed clipping probably makes it more useful over all (it'd definitely win on bass - we should do a demo of that...)

But...

The Behringer, for me, does more of what I want from that style of pedal. That "chainsaw, motorbike right by your ears, evil pick attack" thing, which the Arion just doesn't quite nail.

I keep nearly buying an actual HM2, but I'm not sure that "Curiosity about how close it is to my cheap pedals" is a good reason for a purchase...
