I kind of feel like JPJ does all the heavy lifting for Zep's rhythm (even though he's most notable for his melodic content?) which might be illustrative of the fact that I don't listen to them.

Cave is phenomenal, and I was actually blanking on the band/song title earlier when I went to post in this thread, so :!!!:

Glad to be of service! I only know that one Cave album, so I'll have to check out the one that Made In Malaysia is on.

Also, I posted about these guys elsewhere, but I think it still applies (and follows Cave nicely)

I like 5/4 and 6/4 and other odd time signatures. Straight 4/4 rock rhythms just feel bad to me usually, both to listen to and play over.

Oh and whatever this is, maybe a little less disjointed but this is my type of shit:

I keep listening to this bit of magic that UC put together on repeat... definitely rhythmic, definitely ILF, definitely something I need in my life!

Hoping for a full album of this stuff...

Yeah, I had found it. Some pretty good stuff in there.
It's a huge deal here in SD. Like major. Especially where I grew up.

Modern classic, overshared, and not necesarrily ILF. But I'll be damned if I don't love some of the rhythm stuff Aphex Twin makes.

On the Drummers side Thomas Pridgen is one of my favourites rhythm pushers.
Also Brann Dailor is one of those guys able to make everything interesting simply rolling on
We all know Bonham so it is needless to be said.
and, guys:
Jimmy Chamberlin.
One of the most groovy drummers ever, Siamese Dreams is a perfect portarit of the perfect drumme rin the perfect situation: simple, powerful and always on the beat. Just listen to Geek USA and try to keep your head from banging: You just can’t.

Oh, and if you enjoy polyrhytms and shifting i suggest to listen to this two albums:

http://zeuspower.bandcamp.com/album/motomonotono

and

I still think that the bands/people able to play with polythytms without loosing all the groove and making it sound like just jusxtaposed/overplayed parts are really really hard to find, but when i find them they easily end up in my top list.

Another great exaple in a totally different situations is this:

3 over the top players playing with the beat in different ways and just sounding perfectly together.
