I think they're probably pretty well attached to the rim. I doubt they're coming off easily. :idk:
No air? Wut?? They still have air in them, they are just seated to be airtight like how car tires work on car wheels with no innertube, you still have to inflate them.

edit
didn't see these are actually solid rubber tires, never heard of those! weirdness.

Yeah, they're solid. The only air in 'em is the small amount in the foam cells.

There've been attempts at using solid tires all throughout the history of the bicycle. I think the main problem/complaint is ride quality. Unless Tannus has "solved" that, I don't think they'll enjoy widespread acceptance. Rigid frame bikes are pretty unforgiving in general. I think they'd probably work better with some type of suspension.

The only review I've heard is the video I just posted above. Seems the jury's still out on this one. :idk:

Wonder how you get them on the rim, they must be a really tight fit

I also looked on their website and it seems like they're on there pretty well:

http://www.tannus.com/tannus_installation.html

In fact, they don't recommend that you remove the tire from the rim by yourself. They say if you've got expensive rims, you should just cut the tire off. Not really an issue because the tires are essentially disposable anyway.

I'm curious on how they ride, though.

I'm thinking better than any generation of solid tires that've come before. They still probably take a lot of getting used to. It's gonna be a harsher ride than inflatable tires in any case. I'm interested in hearing what ApeLincoln thinks of 'em.

Today while I was riding, I had a dick in an old beaten up Renault 19 yell at me: "learn to drive and get a car you retard". To which I replied "I am licensed and my car is both more powerful and in a much better condition than yours". He then flipped me off.

I WAS SO PROUD OF MYSELF. I don't get the antagonism people have against cyclists. I'm both a cyclist and a motorist, and I can tell you there are dangerous crazies in both camps.

Tannus says the ride has a similar road feel to tires inflated to 100psi and the rolling resistance of tires at 90psi. So assuming that is roughly correct it should be a bit less cushioning than I normally ride. At this point the plan is to throw them on the cheap wheels I currently have on my bike for daily commuting and get some higher quality wheels and maybe some thickslicks for longer rides.

Ill give my opinions on them once I've got 100k or so put on them.

I get almost every day offended by car drivers (80% disregarding my right of way). Normally they are elder people or "professional driver" (cabs, vans, trucks). I'm already used to it and don't freak out anymore. Normally

Traffic code being neglected is one thing. Get that daily, mistakes happen etc... No biggie.

This guy just yelled. I was riding on a straight boulevard and there's this part were the road merges with the tram because the street gets a narrower. That's when I spotted the guy because he was tailgating me. I did what I usually do which is ignoring it. And that's the road and tram separate again that he shooter at me while he was overtaking me which was a brand new experience

the future of locks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBnfA_Sj5yo

I've been using Kriptonyte D locks but I have to admit I don't like leaving my bike unattended for more than 10 minutes. That one with the alarm is genius.

A lot of nice rides in this thread.

I just snagged this Schwinn Breeze Deluxe for my wife. IT is sooo clean.

Also got this low end diamond back at another garage sale. Have some white 3 piece mission cranks and an old set of perrigrine HP 48's coming to jazz it up a bit. ( No brakes though )

Yeah, that Schwinn is noooiiiiiice. I  3 speeds.

Been entertaining the thought of getting a BMX bike myself. That probably won't happen though.

Do It!! Though I am a smaller guy so take that with a grain of salt. Most frames that are larger than a 20 inch BMX bike are to big for me to ride comfortably.

The 3 speed and even the bell still works great on the Schwinn :!!!:

Yeah, I'm a short man myself.

If I end up moving to an apartment with lots of stairs, I may more seriously consider a BMX. I used to have a folder for that, but it ended up being too heavy with the folding mechanism. So, I got rid of it. I'd love a Brompton, but kinda hate those tiny wheels. We'll see how things pan out with this move though.
