Record Store day

Post by NeatNeatNeatRecords »

So, is anyone else up here excited about it? :yay:
If so, which records are you picking up ?
Went to Wooden Nickle here in Ft Wayne and picked up the new Coheed LP and pic disc 7", Flaming Lips covering Dark Side of the moon in it's entirety, New Yeah Yeah yeah's 7", new Joanna Newsome 3lp set, She and Him LP, Black keys 12" single... and a bunch more stuff that I forget because I'm at work.

How are you celebrating Record Store Day?

I can't make it to any record stores today, although I did pick up Swordfishtrombones and Frank's Wild Years yesterday :thumb:

Went to a cool local record store with a good friend. Didn't buy anything. Huge boxes of CDs and records and whatnot. CDs were just a buck. Pretty awesome. Live local bands too.

Swordfishtrombones is one of my favorite records EVER! I find it hilarious that when Tom stopped drinking, his music then started to get weird. This LP is right at that cusp. Just a perfect record front to back.

I went a bit nuts and lost most of my money today:

VINYL:
Puppy Hearts: s/t 7"
Truthdealer/The Random Houses Split 7"
Artless: Beer is Better... 7"
Meat Beat Manifesto: Dog Star Man 12" EP
Coil: The Snow EP 12" Remixes
Splat: Kirsten Needs Lithium 7"
and a copy of 99 Luftballons in a plain sleeve.

CD's:
Disgust: Brutality of War
Confuse Yr Idols: A Tribute to Sonic Youth
Curve: Come Clean (playing now)
Hymns of the Warlock: A Tribute to Skinny Puppy
Vertical House Presents: Eargasms 7 (promotional CD given with purchases).

...and a copy of The Cure: Bloodflowers, which I picked up at a garage sale before going to the record store.

There was this Flux of Pink Indians CD I really wanted to snag, but it was SEVEN dollars (and I am now pretty much fucking broke), and the CD itself looked sort of sketchy (it wasn't in the best condition, and it had some peculiar, possibly non-original packaging that made me even more hesitant about spending $7).

Sweet finds! :thumb: I saw MBM in 1996 or so at the Metro in Chicago. I had never really heard them before, but I was certainly a fan by the end of the show! :omg:

Yeh, I was really pleased with the stuff I managed to find... but, like many stores, there is far too much to go through... One of the guys behind the counter says they have a lot more records from the likes of MBM and other Wax Trax stuff. He also said there was some Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy in one of the bins, but I couldn't find any, and I was not feeling looking through all the bins underneath the table where many of the DJ records and 12" singles were after looking through each one on top of it (seriously, my fat ass was breaking a sweat from flipping through so much stuff on just that one table alone   ).
