I've been trying to watch a lot of Ableton videos on YouTube (that's how I learned to record on Logic) but it's frustrating that 99% of the videos are EDM based. It's not that I need to hear good demo music but I have no interests in beats in fact I'm pretty sick of drum based music these days.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! When I was in one of my phases of deciding I definitely need an OP-1 I was getting put off by the fact people only seem to use it on YouTube to create join-the-dots EDM.

So the other day I found a load of free guitar feedback samples on MusicRadar and had a bit of a play around slowing them down/PaulStretching them in Audacity. Then today I went to Lou Reed Drones, which has come to Brighton for the festival, and basked in glorious, undulating amp feedback for an hour. I got home and put all my slowed-down drones in Ableton, splitting into groups of tracks playing a few different notes so I could form fifths/triads, threw a load of reverb and low-pass on them all, then spent a long time playing around with it.

hey buddies, I just uploaded an EP that was mostly done with audiomulch. either with the contraptions alone, with guitar or with my voice running through. all of the splicing and editing was done in audacity. super tedious and reminded me of working on a painting, but I'm glad with how it turned out! here it is if you're interested!

YES
Sounds sick dude. I might have to invest in AM, I'll probably have some cash next week as it's my bday so I'm definitely going to have a long hard look at it.
Award Ceremony Invitation is super pretty

Putting it all together in Audacity is like my idea of hell though. Like the thought gives me anxiety

thanks for checking it out! you can try AM in full for 3 months, if you haven't already. can export and everything until the end of the 2nd month. that thing is a mind bender.

and yeah it was a true bitch manually editing in audacity haha. as simple and straightforward as it is, a grid in the background would help a lot.

For those with iPads -- Borderlands Granular is currently 50% off.

And for the Live/M4L users I also recently found these really amazing devices for interesting control mappings:

Yeah I'm gonna give it a go. Helps that the price is in AUD too, seeing as I live in Melbourne and always get stung buying shit in USD. Downlaoding the demo now :!!!: :!!!: :!!!:

Softube has a new modular piece of software that's pretty cool and only $89. Some of the modules are extra and I have no idea how to use it but it seems like a good way to learn how modular's work. Some of the modules are made by Doepfer and there are a ton of presets to use as a starting point. I figured some of the folks that posted in this thread might be interested.

Audulus is also there, it's the mid point between a modular vst and something like pure data. It's my preferred method for ripping off Ryoji Ikeda.

Do guys have an idea on how to produce the high clipping sound at the beginning and the bass sound kicking at 0"35?
I love these hard clipping distortion :snax:

That's kind of a weird question. I know how I would approximate it with what I have, but that may not be anything close to what you have?

I know it could be produce in many different approach but do you think we can have a similar effect with basic technics?
I have a lot of hardware (pedal board with eq, a variety of fuzz and distortion, a 4x4 matrix mixer, mackie 12 channels mixer, juno1, volca keys..) but I'm actually wondering if Hecker achieve this out of the box or into max msp or into his daw
