Synthy/HOGish filtery wah pedal
I used to use my HOG (when I had it) for a filter. It sounded pretty good but it wasn't as aggressive as a wah can be, but I liked the tone. Are there any wahs that can kind of cop a synth-like filter tone? I was looking into the Dunlop BB535 (not the 535q) cause Adam Jones from Tool uses it and I really like the tones he gets. I was thinking of picking up a 535 since they can be had for cheap, but I wanted to see if there was something else that might be better suited for what I want.
Something that's not boutique and pricey.

Wilson Freaker ($185)
LAL Cyber Psychic (expensive, but totally worth it & can be used as more than just a swept filter)
Reuss is coming out with a DeArmond Thunderbolt clone (supposed to be $189.95)

Re: Synthy/HOGish filtery wah pedal
Rosac Nu Wah can kind of do some neat stuff and sounds much more synthy than my old crybaby (the rosac is inductorless I believe).
Moog Moogerfooger LPF or the MF drive could probably do some nice synthy stuff because they are filters.
I know you don't want boutique prices, but the seppuku b-filter can do some crazy stuff...but the ehx tube zipper would get you close or the ehx tube eq if you really need the expression pedal. Possibly even the new stone deaf PDF + exp.
Another neat thing would be to get something like a polivoks built into a wah enclosure.

That was literally the plan, too: A polivoks in a wah enclosure or a normal one. Then life got in the way. The thread was pretty fucking fun, though.

This is what I was gonna say. I think you'd probably really like the MF Drive with an exp pedal.lordgalvar wrote:Moog Moogerfooger LPF or the MF drive could probably do some nice synthy stuff because they are filters.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

I built one that was supposed to run on 9v bi polar supply but it didn't work. I either botched the build and or the layout wasn't correct.lordgalvar wrote:

First thing I thought of until I saw the "no boutique/pricy" reqlordgalvar wrote:Possibly even the new stone deaf PDF + exp.
EDIT just looked it up... $179—not so bad.

I don't think I ever wanted a wah until watching Freaker demoes.

Yeah, but then their proprietary expression pedal for it is another $159.popvulture wrote:First thing I thought of until I saw the "no boutique/pricy" reqlordgalvar wrote:Possibly even the new stone deaf PDF + exp.
