What small dual channel dirt peds are there?

Post by frigid midget »

The hungry robot HG+LG caught my attention. It actually totally fits the bill, except it doesn't seem to easy to get a hold of a used one that doesn't cost $10 less than abrand new one :s

That can't be the only small pedal out there that can serve both hg and lg purposes with two seperate switches, right?? :idk:

My first thought is boss SD-2 with a foot switch, it's a great OD,
as I recall pretty much any latching switch will change the thing

it's not fancy but it's all kinds a good sounding

^^^lulz. Careful there! :D

King of Tone's got configurable sides via internal dip switches, can go from boost to average OD range to higher gain. I haven't tested how high exactly it goes gain wise...doubt it's like f'n Bogner territory but there's a good deal of variety to be had. Obvious big downside is the wait. Not sure what the used price/availability is like, but worth looking.

Thanks dudes...But so far still no suggestions for a hi+lo gain dirt pedal in one small package :idk: That small box KOT comes close I guess, but the lack of seperate controls and the annoying horizontal layout ruin it for me...:idk: Plus, it doesn't get anywhere near the gain level of the Hungry Robot, does it?

Are you looking for a specific high gain and low gain sound on each side or a versitile drive that can do both with 2 gain settings?

Gray Channel isn't that big, I just got a Spires and it's only slightly wider than a boss type pedal.

Visual Sound / TrueTone makes a few dual drives like this that I think sound pretty good

Blackstar make a tube-based one called the HT-Dual I believe, but it's probably bigger than you're looking for. I think AMT makes a few as well.

wouldnt a zvex box of rock or double rock work pretty well? i'm pretty sure you could set one side of the double rock LG and the other side HG.
or a mellowtone half chan full chan? supa chan? clean chan dirty chan. I don't know if you would be able to even find one though.

What about the Function Fx Third Rail that Neon brought up in the Grey Channel thread? One side has a high gain switch. Looks roughly the same size as the KoT. Seems sweet overall.

Thanks. Still though, unless I missed something, there doesn't seem to be anything out there like the Hungry Robot...Tiny, and with the vertical layout and the basic three controls for both sides :idk:

Almost makes me suspecious whether it's even possible to build something like that without making serious compromises tone whise :idk:
None of the clips I checked REALLY convinced me, but tbh I'm not easily impressed with dirt pedal demos :idk:
