Good humbuckers for Muffs

I have two stack Little Bucker (not really humbuckers but alnico dual coils) on my Guild and they work grrreat with Muffs
Filtertrons should also work good.

Are you open to humbucker-sized single coils? I've always preferred lower output SCs for muffy circuits. The heaviest sound I've ever gotten was from a set of SD vintage flats in a strat. The .013s probably helped.

I generally like a hotter clean sound that I haven't really found with single coils. Then again, im not a huge flipper so I don't go through guitars all that fast. Come to think of it, I've only bought like 3 guitars. My main guitar is a gibson sg that is technically ny dad's but he doesn't use anymore, and right now I'm looking to throw some decent pickups in my supersonic.

Im a bit more partial to buckers just as a lot of influences use those over single coils. I also like a hotter clean tone, and I feel like single coils feel a bit flimsy sounding.

Really though, I don't really know what I'm looking for so long as its relatively inexpensive (college student), sounds better than the gfs surfs I have in it now, and isn't super scooped. I also feel like zebra colors would be dat cash money but that's not suuuuuper important

You're using the wrong single coils then. I find the fundamental to be stronger and deeper on a good single, without all that compression softening the edges and turning your chords into sonic mud.

Try something similar in design to a P90, Staple, or Dearmond style pickup, or a hot alnico single with a baseplate. I don't use humbuckers for anything anymore, not even thrash and other faster heavy playing, and I don't need shit tons of gain for them to sound huge and beefy either.

You can't beet the hotter cleans of a Dearmond or P90 in particular man. They will make most every humbucker clean you've ever heard sound like a soft soggy bag of farts in comparison.

On a budget check out the Bill Lawrence single coil offerings. They'll blow the GFS shit out of the water.

Also, BG pickups makes awesome single coils for the money. I got one of his HB sized Pure 90's, and it's constructed far better than my Gibson P90's for sure, and a fraction of the price. I may throw a set of his Phatty's in my Strat next.

My favorite pickup set. I own a Tele Plus that sports 'em and now none of my other guitars get any play. Hi-fi sounding with tons of sustain. The red dually can also be configured to run either coil as a single or both coils at once.

The Fender versions are essentially not true buckers as they don't have a reverse coil, but are still noiseless for the most part. These tend to also be pricey on the used market. The new red duallys are true buckers, and apparently don't retain the magic of the oldies.

Good examples of a red dually into a Muff would be 90's Pumpkins, although I think he ran lace red singles in strats mostly, aswell as anything in the Dead Meadow catalog if you dig some massive stoner tones.
