Lux Liquid Ambience Polyphonic anyone?

Might be a long shot, I never heard of this brand, and for all I know noone else has either...

But worth a shot: Anyone ever messed with this bad boy? I'm hunting down a worthy replacement for my Afterneath, which is kinda limited when it comes to actual convincing reverb effects...

It seems a little less shimmery and p&w-ish than the blue sky style of reverbs out there, but it should be able to do big hall reverbs that trail of and warble a bit...Right? I'd love to hear it in action with some fuzz, and maybe with some weird modulation in the fx loop.

What else in this style is out there? Preferably something less impossible to score in the b/s/t section
The EQD Avalanche Run is pretty high up my wish list as well, with the onboard delay I'd hit two birds with one stone. But it's way to new to hit the used market any time soon

I can say for sure, the Flux is fantastic. Actually reading this I super regret selling mine, the bend control is gorgeous. I didn't use it for shimmering much, but when I did, it sounded pretty wonderful too, although I'm no connoisseur of that particular type of effect.

I use my tomkat daydreamer for what I imagine is similar purposes. The reverb on it is really great, and mixing in some delay adds to the depth/complexity of it. Replaced my meteore and rv3, and I don't miss any of the other many reverbs I've had. Doesn't bend of wobble, but a little delay in there adds a pulse or something to it. Equally new as the Avalanche run, so not helpful in that regard.

Flux is one of those coveted brands that some pedal aficionados know, but few people have actually played them due to their prices/limited availability. Speaking of Flux, they've been teasing a possible delay release this summer.

If you're looking for unique reverbs that were released fairly recently, you might want to check into the Hungry Robot Starlite (big hall, cavernous sounds with long tails), Hungry Robot Wash, or the Midnight 30 Serenity.

I managed to get in on Signal Chain's preorder last summer (and by preorder, I mean I was amongst a select few who were alerted once they went live on their site.) But I did scoop one up during the first few minutes they were available. It's a beast. I haven't used enough reverb pedals to accurately compare it to anything for you, but I'd be happy to throw something up on sound cloud if you wanted to hear something specific.

p.s. I was absolutely slaughtered by the surprise customs charge I received a few weeks later

I follow all of these builders on Instagram, and from what i've heard of those pedals, all seem like awesome choices. One other addition I'd suggest is the Adventure Audio Whateverb.

The basic reverb tones of the Hungry Robot Starlite don't sound THAT dramatically superior to, say a $50 Hardwire RV-7
But the modulation sounds frikking amazing. I don't say that often about modulation on time based effects, it's usually unbearably silly and unuseable to me. But that throbbing tremelo sort of thing should work great in the background of big washy ambient stuff.

The Hungry Robot Wash actually seems like an awesome replacement for my ES-2. Not yet sure if it can beat the Avalanche Run though :s

The Liquid Ambiemce is one of my favorite reverbs and I own a bunch! It's beautiful. The quality of the reverb itself is really something else. The polyphonic and pitch bending options are pretty great especially the amount of control you have over them. The momentary ramp switch is a ton of fun. Great pedal.

You said it better than me, really though, it's worth the 'new' price and the wait. Maybe not some of the inflated used prices though.

I'm plan on keeping my board small, I really dig the 'lean and mean' no frills approach...

So since I don't even use a ton of reverb, and insist on having two seperate delay pedals, I figured it might make sense if one of those delay pedals had a good versatile onboard reverb. Or vice versa

Combo's I'm taking in concideration, keeping my budget mind:

-Sacrifise the big ambient reverb/delay pdlol in favor of a really sweet analog delay and a cheaper simpler delay/verb: Moog MF Delay + Dispatch Master.
-Go with an affordable 'digital voiced' delay and the mid priced ambienty super super boutique option: Digitech Obscura or Disaster Transport Jr + Hungry Robot The Wash.
-Prospone the delay upgrade and get the bees knees: The ES-2 I already have + Avalanche Run.

Decisions, decisions...:s

Hmm, if you're going to drop Avalanche dough, have you considered the Wave by Foxpedal? It's a gritty, analog-voiced digital delay that also has reverb (a bit like the EQD DT SR).

Since you said you don't use reverb that often, I mentioned the Wave first. However, if you decide you want a dedicated reverb, you've also got dual-verbs like the Afterlife and the Symphonic Resonance. The Symphonic pedal will give you surfer splash, but it can also do wall-of-sound textures when the intensity is cranked. That's probably not quite what you're looking for though. (Someone else might be interested in hearing it, so I'm including it with the new MXR.)

With the Afterlife, you can put it on the brink of oscillation, giving you an ominous drone for atmospheric stuff. (3:19 and beyond)

Finally, if you wanted a delay-reverb combo for under $150, you could pick up a secondhand Mr. Black Ambience. I've got one that I enjoy. It's not going to give you the insanity of $300 boxes, but it gives you a compact multi-use unit for $100-140. It won't break the bank, so you can keep it to complement other devices, or flip it fairly easily.

A lot will depend on price and availability, so the more options, the better.
