If you can't get down with "Moonlight on Vermont" just throw your ears away.

Booglarize from the same performance, just with full psych bluescreen action:

And from the same year...

Clear Spot's a bit more straightforward at times and gets kinda dismissed/passed over by some, but it's one of my favorites. The instrumentation on that song—whenever I hear it, it's almost impossible to imagine that it came out in 1972.

i have a pretty great quality instrumental mix of Lick My Decals (much better sounding than the one that i've seen posted on some blogs) that i've listened to a TON. there's SO much going on that was drowned out by the vocals & saxophone on the actual album mix. i should figure out how to post it somewhere...

I'll give a vote for Safe as Milk being criminally underrated in his general discog.

^ Safe as Milk is absolute genius. ALmost every other Beefheart record I'm a little "meh" about, but "Safe as Milk" kills it from start to finish.

One time I was listening to Safe as Milk and my roommate came in, confused. He said to me: "You know this music is bad, right?" I think he liked the Dave Matthews Band.

I tend to think that Electricity is the thesis statement of the band; that everything they have to say is contained therein.

These days, mostly, I listen to Lick My Decals Off Baby or Ice Cream for Crow.
