Help me pick my next fuzz
Greetings! First post here (although I've been lurking for a while).
I currently have two pedals (for dirt) a ProCo Rat (modded), and a Blackout Effectors STD (Musket Version).
Have been contemplating one more fuzz pedal to complete my arsenal.
The few I had in mind:
Dwarfcraft Silver Rose v2.
Black Arts Sarcophagus
EarthQuaker Hoof Reaper
Rainger FX Dr Freakenstein
Minotaur Fuzz and Burn
I don't mind similar sounding to what I already have, but did want a little different flavor(s) of fuzz.
So what do you think, and why: what fuzz would compliment well?
Thanks!

Re: Help me pick my next fuzz
I have a BAT Sarcophagus - there's quite a bit of overlap on the LSTR side, but the pharaoh side boosts that russian dirt really nicely. I don't have a silver rose but i have a buzzz (also a super fuzz) that's a nice compliment. Maybe consider something spitty or splatty with more treble or a bias/starve to put in front of the twosome? or... oscillating fuzz in front of it? Don't mind me, had a few beers. I just got a fuzzhugger ab synth deluxe yesterday and have been playing a lot with that

A. Welcome!
2. You're name rocks. Pun intended.
III. I second the vote for splat and also fuzzhugger in general. ABsynth would be good, so would a Phantom Arcade, or getting an Upper to couple with your existing dirt. The Blooms are also solid, and on my board currently. On the BAT front, I haven't have a sarcophagus, but I had a Pharoah Supreme and a Black Forest at the same time, which is basically what a Coven is, without the extra clipping of the Supreme. Together they were monstrous. Huge.

Hoof reaper. The hoof fucking rules. Then again, I'm not into splatty fuzzes or the voltage starved sound.
Sarcophagus is killer too. I had a pharaoh and a lstr at the same time at one point and it was great. Now I have a badascan which is a hybrid of the two and I can do so much with it. Can't miss with BAT.

Re: Help me pick my next fuzz
You should visit my thread about fuzzes too, for some inspiration. It was a source for a fuckloads of GAS and I'm just gonna list the highlights:
Buzzaround (Ghost Effects, Arc Effects, Super electric, Bad Pixel)
Dizzy Tone (Ghost Effects, Jext Telez)
Super Fuzz (SS/BS buzz, Boss FZ-2)
Tonebender mk.II (Super electric)
Fuzz Face (analogman, maypole)
Harmonic Percolator (Fredric Effects, Jupiter fx)
And Team Awesome Fuzz Machine
So yeah. I started gassing for everything mentioned

If you're looking for contrast to your existing palette, Rainger Freakenstein all the way. That thing is nuts, in the best way.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Re: Help me pick my next fuzz
Thanks everyone for your input! Some good food for thought. The fixd side of my STD has a really nice Velcro-ey/splatty thing going on.
No love for the DD Silver Rose?
If I had the bread, I think I'd get both the black arts, AND the Dwarfcraft.

If you're considering the Hoof Reaper, might as well consider the Cloven Hoof Reaper as well! Just found out about that pedal's existence today. Apparently it's limited to only 20 pedals

It's just that that's A LOT of pedal for just one footswitchGeoDude wrote:Thanks everyone for your input! Some good food for thought. The fixd side of my STD has a really nice Velcro-ey/splatty thing going on.

I don't see the point of getting a giant pricey drive pedal with a bazillion silly controls and just one footswitch. I prefer my dirt pedals to be factory-tweaked and not take up half my pedal board
I'm generally not a huge fan of twin peds either. Going with two seperate fuzz peds will give you more options for hardly more money and board space, and it gives you the option to mess with modulation/verb/delay inbetween both pedals...

Re: Help me pick my next fuzz
You need to run more BATs at high volumes man.
They make everything better.
Including other pedals.
