Don't really need the oscillations, but don't really need a strict muff either. So damn many options lol

Re: I'd love some help with fuzzes people
Buzzarounds are fucking rad. I've played the Arc Effects version and really liked it.
In terms of your Fuzz Face interest, I have a NKT275 Sun Face and it's pretty fucking killer. That said, don't get too hung up on all of the transistor jizzing that goes on out there—there's merit to it, but I've found that a germ FF in general will get you the sound. I also have one of the big box/NKT275 Fulltone '69s, and I feel like the newer, smaller, non-NKT versions are fine. A couple of other FFs I've really liked are the Throbak Fuzz Haze (sounds REALLY fucking good, plus the switch adds versatility) and the JAM Fuzz Phrase.
I'll offer up a couple more that kind of surprised me with their range of sounds when using the volume knob, considering that they're often viewed as particularly nasty fuzzes: the Analog Man Peppermint (SO good) and the Toe Tags EF-1 (the latter a Bosstone clone, the former in the general Bosstone ballpark). Both can be plenty nasty, fucked up and full, but like I said offer a good bit of subtlety if used in the right way.
EDIT: I should also add that if you're thinking of silicon FFs, I wouldn't bother with Analog Man. His silicons are ok, but I think the germs are really where the Sun Faces shine. Much better silicon options out there.

Thanks for this post! i'll look into these suggestions. I listened to the Arc Fx buzzaround too, and it sounds really killer. GAS is building up here..popvulture wrote:Buzzarounds are fucking rad. I've played the Arc Effects version and really liked it.

so i know this isnt really what you were asking for but have you ever stacked an OCD into the dod250? its gets pretty gnarly with some sweet overtones and sustain but more defined than a muff. great for the low and slow. my dirt section right now is those two into a brassmaster clone for when i want shit to explode.

Dude come to my place.
You can try a buzz around, modded Devi hyperion (in the form of a 9 of swords twin earth), a Death Metal and about 9 billion other fuzz pedals. Including the Frazz.
Which is the fuzz you want

Re: I'd love some help with fuzzes people
I was thinking of an OCD as my OD. But as of now I really want to keep the setup simple. If I don't like the fuzztones I get I'll try stacking ODsgnomethrone wrote:so i know this isnt really what you were asking for but have you ever stacked an OCD into the dod250? its gets pretty gnarly with some sweet overtones and sustain but more defined than a muff. great for the low and slow. my dirt section right now is those two into a brassmaster clone for when i want shit to explode.

The moment I saw that goroth had replied, I knew it was going to be a Frazz-related answer

That's cool! However, for this band, most of what we do is loud as fuck, so it's not really a concern. But that's good regardless!vidret wrote:the frazz is pretty awesome. gets good at most volumes too (like what i've showed you with some of the pedals on my amp, how they gotta shake the building before they sound their best). since you're in a similar volume situation at home the frazz would help with that, and i have no doubts it'd sound awesome louder as well.

Re: I'd love some help with fuzzes people
My 2 current fav fuzz circuits: Harmonic Percolator & Tonebender Pro MK II.
They aren't what you're looking for but I'll recommend them to anyone just because they're such great circuits.
In my head they would slay with an SG+OR80
Something I don't currently own but is on my shortlist: Super Fuzz or Foxx Tone Machine circuit with the mode toggle switch setup as a footswitch.
Without the octave you get a nice scooped Muffy sound

Cheap Blunderbuss in the b/s/t, really great muff-based pedal.
That's what I use (with my Clusterfuzz/Unpleasant Surprise) and I rule, so there you go.
