I'd love some help with fuzzes people

Post by fcknoise »

I've set up a plan for my coming board for my second band. Really want something small, and I 've decided on the metro 16 for compactness. Chain is basically: OD > Super Fuzz > Big Muff/fuzz face > Delay/Reverb

Most likely, I'll get a DOD250 for OD, and borrow my El cap from the main board (I'm not THAT lazy), which covers reverb and delay. That leaves a super fuzz and big muff. Ideally, I'd like to keep it kinda cheapish. Saying that though, I'm really into the fredric effects super unpleasant companion right now. Any other suggestions for that type of fuzz would be appreciated though

As for the second fuzz I'd like som more ass. Something like a muff or a bottom ended fuzz face. I've been really digging clips of the NKT275 sun face, which is waaaay more than I'd like to pay now. Basically, I want the super fuzz-ish to be for solo kinda stuff and cutting through like science through a flat earther, and the second fuzz to work for slow played, low tuned background stuff.

Mostly I'm really, really GASsy right now and want to talk about this shit.

Mini-BILF 2017, I'm coming for you

EDIT: Oh, bonus points for cheap-ish and smaller enclosure. Although mini-pedlols make me sick so rather not that small

To get relevant (or potentially relevant) info, what type of amp you're using is probably a good idea to mention.

Although you'll just get 10 posts shouting out flavors of the month half the people don't own. :)

Pedal I own that I think would be awesome for you: Analog.man Astro Tone.

Pedal I don't own that I think would be awesome for you: Catalinbread Manx Loaghtan

I've said my piece. Now I'll go.

Doh, sorry.

I'm playing an SG through a Orange combo, like an OR80 212 or something like that. Not my amp, but that's what I use right now. Ampwise I'm hoping to get an ampeg GVT50 down the road.

Yo, that Buzzaround sounds BAD ASS. Might take the muffs place?

I know you recommended the Astro tone earlier, I still need to look at a proper demo! Thanks mate

Its just that both of those are exceptional fuzzes in very small enclosures.

Get the Buzzaround (or dizzy tone) from ghost if you go that route. Ian does great work.

Yea, I like them both better than muffs. More character...maybe less sustain though (but not enough to really be much of a deal).

Was looking at the Ghost Effects one! Good that it's within the EU. Just gotta find out how much they cost now..

Not sure what I'd recommend - any Orange I've played either I loved the gain channel or I didn't - and there wasn't enough headroom to make it fly well with the pedals I had with me at the time.

Ampeg stuff I'd look at something very, very bright (or adding a treble boost), but again, not my preferred bag (Fender tonestack guy all day).

There really isn't a good "cheap" Superfuzz I'm aware of either.

FZ-2 for Superfuzz?

EQD Hoof, Devi Soda Meiser/Noise Floor, Infanem 141T for muffs? You can get pretty crazy with the later two if you want (as long as the SM/NF has a "chaos" switch)

Actually rocking the behringer variant of the FZ-2, and it sounds really nice, so that is def an option too. Hadn't thought of Infanem either, good suggestion! I'll check it out!

:thumb: The 141T is supposed to be muffier than the 141G. I think UglyCasanova has a 141T

It's muffier (read: scoopier midz) than the 141G, but it's not a muff. It's still a gated oscillating fuzz.

I would look for a cheap black arts toneworks pharaoh. They are awesome with buckers and can pop up cheap from time to time.
