Bass OD/Dist. with 2 Switches?

Post by Pop »

Hi hi.

I'm looking for recommendations slash "do you know of one" for a bass overdrive/distortion that has two footswitches, meaning it's one pedal that does overdrive on one switch and distortion/fuzz on another, hopefully with the ability to stack?

Thanks.

Cool. Has octave too. That's nice.

I've seen a few demos but nothing on the v2.6. Any tips?

EQD HoofReaper. Can set tone reaper side up for more of an od. Hoof on the other side. Octave up too. Can stack channels.

Can't think of anything at the moment. Just curious though, why not just two seperate peds? No compromises in your choices, and you'd have the ability to put modulation or verb/delay in between,...:idk:

The EHX Germanium 4 Big Muff has an OD and DS side, and can stack both. Not meant for bass specifically, but then again neither were big muffs....

This happens more often than not w/ EHX & the muffs (Deluxe, Bass Deluxe, Space Pog, Frequency Muffilizer, etc.), but likewise a Fuzzrocious Rat King (two stacked rats, give or take) or the Wampler Dual Fusion (no idea, really) or one of those Smallsound Bigsound pedals w/ all the features (TAFM or Buzzz or Fuck, even though they might not be purely OD/Distortion, they certainly must be mentioned within 24 hrs of every new post). But really, Fuzzrocious & SS/BS's pedals are always bass-friendly, if that helps any.

It's a matter of space on my board, that's all. I do run a Sansamp at the end of my chain, but that's an always on deal. A lot of extra room is taken up by an A/B pedal and another switcher, and the giant-ish Space Station. And that's on a PT-Classic board, which is pretty big. So I'm hoping to find something that has OD and Fuzz that isn't super huge.

Anyone ever tried one of these?

It's pricey but looks and sounds pretty classy.

What about going the custom route? Fuzzrocious has quite a few bass-friendly fuzz/drive circuits that could be doubled up in a single housing and would probably be willing to do something that would suit your needs. Hell, any ILF builder probably would...

True true. Problem is I don't really know what I'd want in the damn thing.

I hear ya. Always strugling with real estate issues myself :s

Still though, that fancy pedal you're refering to doesn't take up less space than two EQD-sized peds with top jacks :idk:

Too bad the Dr Scientist The Elements doesn't have top jacks, otherwhise you could get two, one dialed in for fuzz, the other one for dist :)
Having said that, for a good crunchy bass tone I actually prefered my Hotcake over the Elements. I was surprised myself, with all those controls and eq options, I was expecting the elements would be able to do all the hotcake does, and even better/more. There's just something about the hotcake that happened to work extremely well with my particular bass and amp :idk: No top jacks on the hotcake eiter though, which probably rules it out for you, if you were to go with 2 peds after all...:s

Come to think of it, I don't suppose anyone here tried the EQD Talons on bass?

Fuck, yeah, forgot all about that one. Looks secksy as hell, but I can't for the life of me find a single guitar demo of it that doesn't sound bland :idk:

actually dude, the the elements does have top mounted jacks, and I have one. I'd been using that for my main bass distortion until recently... switched it out for a TFR for the time being. BUT... that hadn't occurred to me, two elements right next to each other. that would actually be pretty small space-wise, too.

I got a good deal on a wampler low blow so I'm going to mess with that, and maybe I can then stack that with the the elements too.

thanks!

Damn, yeah, I remembered wrong

Used to have an the elements. the reason why I sold it was that I got frustrated having all those controls and all those awesome different sounds in a pedal with just one footswitch and no way to save/acces prestes or anything. That and GAS ofcourse

I've had a couple wampler experiences in the past, their stuff is solid imo.
