And my favourite is probably Mr Beast anyway (Rave Tapes and Hardcore Will blablablah would be contenders too)...

Okay, first off, yes, we can all agree on that.

Second off, now I don't even feel bad. Even if I was gonna pick an old one as my favourite it wouldn't be Hawk Is Howling, it would be either Happy Songs or Come On Die Young.

FYI, I haven't heard Zidane or Atomic. I fucking love Les Revenants though, both the album and the series. The series is the most artful horror series I've ever seen. American remake is needless, as always. What is it about Americans? Can't they sit through a subtitled show an hour a week? I digress. Completely subjectively, that's my favourite. But Hardcore is pretty close.

While I in no way dispute Jack Chuter's knowledge of post-rock and think that he really does know what he's talking about, someone pointed out there's no Talk Talk and I agree it's a shame. And putting Do Make Say Think on there, but not Godspeed You! or Silver Mt. Zion? And where's the High Llamas' Hawaii? That was a noteworthy album... anyway. I know he can't fit everything on there but those seem like conspicuous absences.

And what, no Sigur Ros?! Crazy man.

i mean, if you were to read the book it would probably deal with all of that. there's no way you could please everybody with such a tiny playlist so i figure it's best to stop at 'at least there aren't any shit bands on it'.
i like GYBE and Sigur Ros are... tolerable, but i can see how those bands might have no personal significance to other people interested in the roots of post-rock.
