Fun fact: I sang "Raspberry Beret" as "rags, miracle rags" until about a year ago.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince... when I see these and numerous other rock star deaths I can't help but think, "Wow, the old guard is not long for this world. Guess it is truly up to us to make music that matters at this point. Can't point up our nostalgic heroes any longer." Which isn't to say that we're not making "music that matters," merely that I wonder what the musical world looks like, when all its heroes have passed? Maybe it has no heroes. Maybe that's a good thing. I don't know.
Anyway... RIP.
