Re: Full featured multi delay vs. Booteex quirky delays
Well, I'll probs never go for one of those big, advanced delays, but ah do need another regular delay w/ tap. Only have the EAR Electronics Ghost now (on R/main 'side' of the chain) and it's super dark, which makes for a dank cave-vibe and oscillation champ, but does not do clarity... Pretty much decided on the CTC Time MkII as my next delay for early chain clean repeats, seems to have everything and will fit perfectly in a vacant spot.
Something fancy like an Echo Degrader or Timefactor would be fun AF, but I don't think I'd use it enough to justify the expense. My friend/bandmate uses four delays (at home, at least) including a TC Triple and always-on RE-20 (both w/ exp) and it makes my head spin to play a setup like that, both in a good and bad way. The other day we were jamming, went downstairs for a smoke, and had to run back up to turn off the screeching oscillation from the RE-20. One of the dual expression pedals had been left heel down. So, I think it's best I keep it simple, be the responsible guitarist.
I do love delay though, just use it mainly for oscillation and rhythmic/dub-type sounds.

"keep it simple, stupid" is my fucking songwriting mantra. I consider breaking out every effect for song writing, but I can often get away with just one delay total in a whole mix. Turns out shit gets cluttered. a Timefactor or DD-500, or a million other vdelays would be fun, but what they would offer compared with what i already have is minimal, so it is not a priority.
Coversely, maybe my songwriting mantra should be "keep it stupid, simple"

Do that with a real Space Echo when you've got a piece of gunk in the intensity pot and have to shut it off and pray.
I love my RE-20 too, but trying to diagnose "what's the tape thing up to today" I don't miss!

K.I.S.S. has become my gear mantra & general *rule* when creativity is concerned. I find the simplicity to be much more enjoyable when one, two or a few basic elements are allowed to breathe & shine together while complimenting each other. Finding the symbiotic pairings and following them down rabbit holes is where I'm in my element, that's when the riffs begin to write themselves. Too much gear only gets in my way.psychic vampire. wrote:"keep it simple, stupid" is my fucking songwriting mantra. The thing is I (and others I know) can get that same thing with the fancy-pants setups.
We're not sitting there tweaking presets constantly, it's more "this will work with that, add a pedal doing this", and boom.
Instantly dialing in one of a dozen known good baselines, and then tossing standalone stompboxes gets me to the same place and just as fast!

I'm more for keeping shit simple nowadays, and doing more interesting stuff with actually playing guitar. Sometimes I consider chucking all my gear for a nano+ setup but most likely I'll just do both

Just Nick's demo of the Nemesis solidified that I want one. Sigh. I wish they were on sale.
