Also, because I feel like an idiot for not mentioning it: lighter, stainless strings. The lack of sustain won't be the stainless, but it'll add plink especially if you go down a couple gauges from normal and kill sustain hardcore versus what you're used to.

yeah but you are always suppose to use that much gain, otherwise would be silly.

I sometimes turn it off.

I've had multiple occasions when I really liked the muted, plunky sound I was getting but I didn't know where it was coming from. Then I would notice it was because I was wearing a shirt with loose sleeves.
