Full featured multi delay vs. Booteex quirky delays

So lately I've found myself drawn more towards things like the timeline, DD-500, and Nemesis for my delay needs. I've always gone for smaller delays that do one thing really well but I always feel like I need one more delay or presets or something

I like the idea of working within my limitations but I also feel there's merit in menu diving and tweaking to make my delay sound.

What do you guys prefer? I think in a perfect world I'd have a crazy powerful digital delay and then a weirder one that can do stuff the other one can't but for simplicity's sake I'll probably end up with just one delay that does multiple things.

I went from approuch A to approach B and back again more than I care to remember. After a while an all-in one digital mult delay pedlol makes me wish I had a simple easy to use great sounding analog delay pedal and a second dd-6 type of pedal for more fancy shit. And than after a while I back to where I started, and eventually repeat that again and again

The only other ones I'm still considering are the EQD Avalanche Run, Pladask Elektrisk Gjengangar II and Rainger FX Echo-X.
I guess if you want a middle ground than the Chase Bliss Tonal Recall or EQD Avalanche Run are great options.

I had a Timeline at some point but found it to be less versatile than the DMM550TT because with the Timeline I had to switch between presets all the time while the DMM550TT just adapts to my playing, it sounds better too.

Such a pertinent question. I recently ditched my reverb for a washed out delay, then added another delay for heavily modulated parts, and another for tapped precise repeats. Thinking about adding another for predirt. All of a sudden that's a lot of junk. I think my current problem is drastically switching styles. Power violence band broke up and now I'm playing with a singer songwriter person. All of a sudden the music is slow enough I can fill all that space! I think I'm a few weeks I'll be back to two delays.

After all that, idk. I think the single units are just so fun, and since I don't have a set list I need to maximize, I'd rather have a couple unique boxes.

Yeah boss Delays are great.
I'm sort of in your boat as well, neon.
In an ideal world I'd probably go for one big multi that did a bunch of weird atmospheric soundtracks sort of stuff.
But in reality I've got a few good and cheap(er) options that specialise.
I decided last year that instead of GASing for mad shit left, right and centre its be better to get decent pedals that specialise in a particular sound, cover a bit of ground between them and be done.
So I now have a Moog MF Delay to do my dark/warm analog sounds, an RV3 to do long and spacey digital stuff, a CBred Echorec (which I haven't had a chance to play with yet) to do my whacky stuff with (I resigned to not owning a real tape unit a while ago), and I have a Space reverb coming in to handle big wishy washy long verb stuff. There are one or two things I'd like to look at to do really wild stuff but at the moment I think I'm covered for the sort of sounds I want to achieve.

Trying to take the same approach with fuzz and dirt so I don't buy out the BST every few weeks and then flip for a loss.

I just got the Ibanez DE 7 and it's fucking killer. Probably one of my favorites. I also love my ILFDD. I also love all the algo's on my H9's...I think I have another delay or three that I'm forgetting.

Anyway, you need at least two in your chain at all times. TWO minimum.

I have one main delay (Echo Degrader) and a few quirky ones (Digital Water, Judder and Particle). If I could get their sounds in one box, I would, but they're pretty...unusual.

I am getting a Fernweh though (four delays in one plus looper), but then again that thing is massive.

I think my best bet is to get something like a DD-500 or Nemesis and then see what sounds I can't get from it. Figure out what's lacking and fill that hole (TWSS)

I basically want a multi head delay for rhythmic percussive stuff, a warbly tape style delay for spacier stuff, and a nice slapback with high feedback for weirdo surf sounds. But then I want a looper and some glitchy sounds too. And I'm trying to stick to a PT Jr so I need maximum features in minimal space.

Also Echo degrader as your main delay? MADMAN!
