Also, If you do it, jump on http://www.maxforlive.com and download like everything that tickles ya pickle. A LOT of the FX and instruments are free and are generally only a few MB each maximum. Which rocks.

Yeah, I'd like to try Max for Live. How much does it cost as an addition to the Standard version? What else does the Suite version have to offer?

Yeah, I think I'm going to go for AudioMulch. I've been messing around with it a lot and reading up on it when I get the chance. It's surprisingly intuitive and incredibly fun.
I'll keep messing around until my trial runs out, but it does seem worth it

It is incredibly limited, but it does sound really great.
My first experience with it was pretty sub-par though. I just could not get any sound no matter what. Turns out my default audio configuration just wasn't right

I'm not entrrely certain but I'm pretty sure you need a copy of max, which is included with Suite. It doesn't include a Max License, but just the program itself which gets installed on your computer. SO you can't operate it stand alone, but it lets you use M4L I Think. That's how I rolled for a while before grabbing a max license anyway.

I've been listening to a lot of Crowhurst on Bandcamp lately. The guy is super prolific and puts out a dozen+ albums a year and does a lot of collaborations which I'm all about. Maybe I can get him to work with me on a few songs.

I played with the band iteration of Crowhurst last night and it's fucking incredible. Jay is the sweetest dude and Make (his touring band) were insanely good.

Yeah word. Whole thing is phenomenal but I LOVE the last four tracks (Castrati Stack-Black Phase) so fucking much. Just awesome.

Also, thanks to Daseb, I was provided with an opportunity to perform live on Wednesday and it went pretty well. I know taking this shit live was a topic of conversation earlier in the thread, so here is what I rocked:



Ableton is hosting samples and three channels of looping. On two of the looping channels I am running Tonecarver Regen, a Frippertronics style looping plug in that allows for 4 loops with variable speed, pitch, level and direction. On the third looping channel I run an instance of ABleton's stock looper due to the larger pitch range (+/- 3 octaves vs +/-1 in Regen) and the ability to assign accurate octave drops to an external control.
So absically that gives me 9 loops over three channels, all with continuous pitch control and level control. These are all then mapped to the Akai Midi Mix above, allowing me to fade in and change the pitch of the 8 loops from Regen and change the pitch in 8ve intervals, direction, speed and level on the Ableton Looper. I used the Rucci Maximal drone as my input source for the loopers, which is awesome but I could theoretically use anything. I also have several busses mapped to the Midi mix, letting me fade in FX over particualr loop channels. I used a lot of distortion, reverb and a Stereo Limiter with LFOs on the sends, which kind of allows for a lot of variation to the timbre of all the loops.

The second half of my set was more sample based, with 3 running the whole time as Master samples and the rest letting me improvise over the top, again utilising the sends and a single channel of looping to keep the performance element in tact.

I also just released a new album, and examples of the drone synth looping can be heard on the tracks "live" and "live two", while every other track features a use of the real time multi channel looping technique in one way or another. if anyone wants to hear that they can be found here:
