Hey y'all,
So I bought a used Akai Headrush last week, listed in very good condition with no functional issues. The nut on one of the soft switches just kinda popped off right out the box. Tightened it, thought this would fix the issue. Nope. Right footswitch would only activate from really awkward angles, turned on when it wanted to, etc. not a good thing for tap/tempo and dedicated loop stop switches. Returned the pedal.
Bought a Ditto X2 yesterday. Listed in very good condition, no issues, blah blah blah. Gently take it out of the box... Nut pops right off, also on the right footswitch. The pedal's working fine now... But I'm still thinking about returning this one, because I don't want an intermittent issue to happen when structural integrity really counts.
Has anyone else had this issue in dealing with pedals that utilize soft switches? I've pretty much decided to swear off TC Electronic altogether at this point, even though the HOF seems like a great pedal and used prices are pretty damn good on a lot of their products.
Also, if anyone has a suggestion for a more durable looper with similar sound quality/functionality (basically a two switch interface) with a similar used market valuable, I'd appreciate it. This forum is my go-to to figure out what is actually ever worth buying. Y'all are smart and I appreciate you!

I've been using the ditto x2 with no problems. I think I remember back however long ago TC Electronics had shitty switches but that's been resolved. Unless I'm just making that up and my memory is shot.

I'm still looper-less, and it's primarily for these reasons, so

Yea it's totally a TC issue. They did have shitty switches for awhile. As far as I know that's been fixed. Most pedals with soft switch are no problem though.
The Head Rush I had didn't have any issues with the switches. Maybe you've just had a run of bad luck. It can happen. Sucks ass too.

i never cared about soft switches really, they are nice, but one thing i hate is having a board with mixed soft and hard switches... something about it just doesn't feel right

Re: Soft Switches Are Killing Me
No issues with soft switches - i have a ton on all the Boss and modern Digi pedals, the amp footswitches for my Mustang V head, etc.
And I'm not a small dude. If anyone should kill them, that'd be me.

I think the only foot switches I've had crap out on me are on the DL4.
After I upgraded it to soft switch worked like a charm.

I hate the audible *click* from hard switches, and it's ridiculous that so many pedals use them. I used to disdain Boss pedals as a noob, but now I totally dig their silent switching. Any pedals with soft switches, momentary switches, or silent switching have my immediate interest.
